I have the same symptoms, but with one quirk -- I have low blood pressure.  When it was taken at a clinic last week it was 102/80.

I intend on calling my doctor in a few hours, but before I do, I saw the phrase "vascular migraine" come up in my search engine, so I'm going to see if my migraine medicine has any effect on it (yes, I get migraines).  The article on vascular migraines indicated they don't necessarily hurt.  I also get ocular migraines that don't always hurt (ask me about the ER nurse who kept trying to push narcotics on me when I didn't have enough pain to justify them!).

I have the same thing. You describe it well - it is a throbbing heart beat in the head and it gets worse when I lie down. I have often felt it was in response to something I have eaten - perhaps more sugar in the form of grains or sweet vegetables ( have a very clean diet that has no table sugar at all in it). I also wonder if it is raised cortisol or perhaps a form of hotflash or night sweat. I have asked many naturopaths about it and gotten no clear answers or suggestions. Stress could be a contributor too. Do any of these thoughts ring a bell for you. I am up late now with the sensation. It is still with me as am sitting up. I hope you could reply. The best to you.

I have the same. I wake up every morning with a throbbing in the back and sides of my head. Its painless but frightening. I often feel spacy and foggy. It abates as the day goes on and I feel pretty normal by late afternoon. I've seen a neurologist, had an MRI, seen an ENT doctor - no help. I go to bed every night wondering if something will burst in my head and I will not wake up the next morning. Can someone give me an idea of what type of doctor I should try next?

Same problems as everyone else, head throbbing sometimes its my scalp other times the whole head but doesn't hurt; my head and face also feel very warm. The foggy dizzy hard to concentrate thing has been happening for years with no diagnosis after a million tests. I suffered from migraines as a kid but I am starting to lose hope that anyone has a clue as to what this is.

Ok, I started having this heart beat, throb sort of thing in my head, like behind my ears in my head. I've taken vitamins and minerals (be careful you can OD on minerals) for years and years. I have had tinnitus for 30 years from shooting a gun but this is different. It came and went and was worse when I laid my head against the couch or like laying down flat. Then it would go away......kept doing this for weeks.....thought about meds I was on, things I had done differently since it started etc, etc. Well, when I thought about things I was doing different since it started, I remember that I usually take calcium with magnesium and zinc. But the pills are so big, yuk, I waited til night because your body assimilates calcium better when you sleep. But for some reason I just started skipping taking it and also I had gotten some calcium without mag and zinc and was trying to use them up. Nothing else wrong with me other than I'm 64, haven't been exercising like I used to and blood pressure was very slightly elevated last couple times went to the doctor....I mean like 130 over 80....no meds. Anyway I realized that what I hadn't been taking was MAGNESIUM! I took the zinc in another tablet, but the magnesium was missing. So, I got my bottle out and started taking it again DO NOT TAKE WITHOUT TALKING TO DR AND CHECKING OTHER MEDS AND DO NOT OVER TAKE!....But in a day and a half the throb, heart beat crud in my head has not been back......I do not do without it now!!!! Read up on MAGNESIUM, I had most of the symptoms of deficiency including depression, ect. IT'S GONE!!!! It is said that with the diet that most Americans eat now, 80% of people are deficient. I hope this helps someone......Listen to your body! It's telling you something. You are what you eat, but in this day and age.....you can not get enough of what your body needs to run right just in food. READ UP!!! Most of the people whose body has been tested postpartum died of a deficiency.....in old age.

I have the same throbbing in my face coupled with throbbing in hands and feet with pins and needles and tinnitus.
I was just diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation and I believe it is csf flow restriction causing blockages. You need to get a mri of your brain to see if you have Chiari Malformation and then if you do get a CINE mri to check your csf flow.
