I was diagnosed with thyroiditis by my GP in August. He has since placed me on Synthroid. I took Ibuprofen three times a day for 2 weeks until my stomach almost fell out--then he changed it to Celebrex 100mg twice a day--I did that for a month with no real improvement from that lump in my throat--he even tried giving me Prilosec in case it was GERD related. Now it is mid-October. I had to refer myself to an endocrinologist who seems to be okay with my GP's diagnosis after one visit because he cannot physically feel a lump in my thyroid. My throat is pretty much irritated all the time--and so am I, now, after all those blood tests and chest x-ray. I am waiting again to hear from the latest round of blood tests. My GP had finally decided to do a scan but changed his mind because I'd have to be off of Synthroid for 5-6 weeks. Both doctors seem not to want to give the steroid dose pack they say would knock out the inflammation, unless they absolutely have to but they are not the ones with the problem. I am playing the waiting game again and am getting more concerned as it goes along, broker for all the effort and none the wiser. Has anyone experienced this?
