Hi,

I am 35, male. I had my tonsils, adenoids, and uvula removed Feb 1st, 2015. Surgery went well, in and out of the hospital in 8 hrs, went home and slept. The next few days are only bad if you miss your meds. Yes it hurts but hopefully your doctor gave you good meds. I can't say this enough, drink really cold water. Don't worry about food for a few days and when you do cold food. I started with ice cream. It's going to taste weird or different, you just had your mouth ripped up. Everything is going to taste weird for awhile. I went 6 days on just water and a little bit of ice cream. No big issues or concerns until day 7. Wanted to get out of the house, went to Walmart and I guess my scabs and clots decided it was time. Made it to the bathroom, this scared me bad. It was a lot of blood for a good 5 minutes and chunks. Not trying to scare anyone. I'm a trained ENT and I did worry, called 911. Luckily, I remembered cold water, when I had the chance I swished some around repeatedly. It stopped by the time 911 arrived. Still went to the ER, for a check up. Both the ER and my surgeon said I was good. They said there would be bleeding, but nothing like that. Apparently that's what the meant. It happens to some people. That was 3 days ago and I have had little to no blood and started eating mashed potatoes. Sticking to smooth and creamy items. So far other than a little bit of pain or irritation I'm good. Taking meds only when I feel I need to. (Mostly at night). I will say, I would do it again. Lost 12 pounds, can't wait to eat real food but looks like another week and a half of soft foods. All in all, it was worth it so far.
