I had my tonsils out on 21 November because I was having way to much time off school because off tonsillitis. Since the tonsillectomy the first two days I was normal felt no pain, didn't even ask for pain killers but as soon as day three came I started losing weight couldn't eat drink talk constantly sleeping and looked absolutely terrible. I tried everything from tip tops to ice cream cold water and nothing helped so I just coped with the pain. I brushed my teeth about 12 times a day and mouthwashed 30times a day waking up through the night to spit out everything. Two days ago I was then able to drink randomly it just stopped hurting and then yesterday I tried to eat a KFC cause I was craving one but couldn't finish it:( then today I finally eat a sausage roll and a pot noodle and now I am feeling a lot better:)... Face is looking normal again and I'm not losing that weight anymore. The best thing to drink I found was flavoured water. Now I can't wait to have a chicken tikka masala tonight with my mother:) good luck guys you'll get through it. I said on day four I wish I never had them out but it's a lot better now x

Hello Chels....Ana!  I know from hearing from other people that the pain from a tonsillectomy can be very excruciating.  I would hope that the medical professional would recognize that fact that there needs to be more interventions available to help patients with pain-relief.  I hear so many people say that they contact the surgeon after the tonsillectomy about the pain only to hear him say "There is nothing I can do."  This can be disheartening for anyone in need of pain relief!  And the fact that it interferes with eating and drinking makes it worse.  I am glad you are doing better now.

Has anyone else had tonsils removed and would like to share their story?
