My daughter had her tonsils out this past Monday (August 7). She is 20 years old and still has alot of pain. She is on her second bottle of pain killers. She is sick at her stomach and vomiting, but she does not have a fever. She has been ablt to drink and eat soft foods without alot of trouble. How long until she feels better and stops vomiting? She has a weak stomach and I wonder if she is vomiting because of the infection. I also was wondering when the scabs will go away. Thanks in advance for you help.

Everything you have described is normal after tonsils removal. Because she is a girl she is probably more sensitive to the pain so give her pain killers when she is asking for them and be aware that this is very painful recovery.

The vomiting is as well part of recovery from tonsils removal. But if you are worried that this is lasting longer than it should call your doctor just to check with him. And you should encourage your daughter to eat and drink.  Many children find it more comfortable to swallow warm liquids than cold so check this with her as well.

Anyway don’t be afraid to contact your doctor if you notice anything unusual. Let us know how the recovery went.

I'm 21 and had mine removed in September. I was in a great amount of pain for weeks. I went through all medicine and even went back for more. The meds made me sick to my stomach. I vomited a few times and I have a pretty tough stomach. I went and bought a soft ice pack. I tied it around my neck (close to the wounds) with a scarf. That ice pack was my best friend. Also, staying hydrated helped me heal quicker. Also, don't be freaked about the weight loss. I'm normally 110 and I dropped to 98. I gained the weight back pretty quickly ;)
