Hey guys, so I just got my tonsils removed yesterday. It wasn't so bad, and I would definitely love to have some advice from some of you, who have already had theirs removed. As well as others who haven't, you can ask me anything I'll be more than happy to help you throughout your days of recovery.
Day 1 :
Great part is you don't feel the surgery and you wake up in recovery room. I was completely drugged out and all i did was drink ice cold water. One thing I found extremely helpful was the ICE neck wrap that I put around my throat. It feels great. For the first 48hrs it's important to not sleep lying down, you need to sleep inclined on the bed. I also gargled luke warm to cold water with salt before i went to bed to clean out my mouth before i went to bed.
I threw up about twice at the hospital and last night, did anyone else experience nausea on their first day?
The doctor put me on medication called DILAUDID, i was recommended to take 1-2 tablets every 4 hours. So far i've been taking 1 during the day hours and 2tablets at the night. With a tynenol as a base for every 6hrs.
What were some of the drug amount and time tables that worked for some of you guys?
Today is DAy 2:
Alot more pain, i can't swallow anything. I've been drinking alot of water and some gatorade. Ice cold. Another favorite food of mine is Apple Sauce...ahh it is soo good. I make sure it's nice and cold and i can have as many as possible.
But the worse part today is spitting out my saliva, i can't swallow anything. But i'm forcing myself with lots of water and apple sauce.
Well i'll come back later on today about the rest of my day, just counting down till this is all over.
:-S
