Your experience was similar to mine. I have to say even better. I didn't bleed at all! I didn't have any packing and was done 2 miles from my house at a surgical clinic. I was so worried over nothing. I did have to wait awhile due to one patient having some complications. I swear, as soon as I woke up, I could breath much better. I had a slight headache, was a little foggy and my nose was slightly sore. All this went away in 3-4 hrs. I didn't need any pain meds. I was so happy with the results. Some of it has do to with your Dr. and some is genetic/luc with the out come,in my opinion. Very happy.

Hi guys, I have just had septoplasty to correct a deviated septum and also had a turbinate reduction on the right side (I believe), although I was not told about the turbinate reduction until after the op. My experience so far has been pretty awful. I woke after the op without having much pain in my nose at all, I just felt very tired from the anaesthetic, and that evening i couldn't even get out of the bed without wanting to pass out/be sick. Gradually over the next 4 days the pain in my nose has worsened, and I feel completely blocked up. I'm wondering if I have an infection/cold as my mucus is green/yellow with blood in (as expected). It's now day 4 and my nose is still returning lumps of mucus with blood in. My teeth and palette have also been quite sore, infact more uncomfortable that my nose for the last few days. My ears are also becoming blocked when I swallow, and I can feel mucus in my throat and have to cough it up. I may go to my GP tomorrow to see if he thinks i have an infection. Anyone else experience these things? I originally only wanted to take 1 week off work but looks like I'll need 2 as it's actually getting progressively worse each day, apart from the tiredness and appetite which is returning to normal.

Hi I know how u feel because I remember my first week was awful too ,the blocked nose and a bit bleeding on the first week it's normal I don't think it's infection but it's good to check with your gp I am now 5 weeks into my op I had a bit improvement after the first week but now I get a blocked nose some days I don't understand why I don't know if it's allergy so I was hopping for better result so a bit disappointed ,but still better then before the op but I just hopped for better result , let me know how you feel after few weeks and hope u get well soon Nab

Hi, not sure if anyone is still following this thread but I just had a turbinoplasty and adenoidectomy last week. I'm still having problems with sleep apnea and snoring, but I'm hoping that over the next few weeks I will notice some improvements. I was wondering if anyone has had the same procedures done because of sleep apnea? I'm over being tired all the time so I'm really hoping that this surgery works. It was such a pain in the butt to get it done initially because my health fund wouldn't cover any of the cost. I switched to Bupa and only had to pay my excess for the hospital and part of the anaesthetist fee.

I'm 2 days post op after a Septoplasty with Bilateral Turbinoplasty... Sad to say the pain is only getting worse from here and my nose is becoming more and more congested as the hours go by. Is this normal? Originally waking up I didn't feel congested, but now I cannot take in any air through my nose and am relying on rather strong paid meds to counteract the pain. I was advised to start sinus rinsing from tomorrow onwards, is this likely to help?

Staph infection goes everywhere you touched, slept on, etc. You have to bleach your blankets, pillows, toothbrushes, sink, mirror, shower, etc etc etc...if you wiped and tossed the tissue paper in the trash you hv to bleach the trash can or throw out everything you contaminated. You don't realize everything you've touched such as the fridge handles, food storage bowls, dishes, forks, dish sponges, cell phones, toilet handle, shoes, clothes you don't wash but put back on the hanger, the clothes hanging next to that rehung outfit etc etc etc....spray with disinfectant that says it kills staph bacteria, immediately wash n bleach your wash rag after using it. Nip it in the bud. ..you cannot be lax or complacent about combating the staph or it will keep coming back.

I feel your pain. I had inferior turbinets reduction in January 2013 and since then i have lots of dryness in my nose. Don't get much moisture anymore. I wish I would have researched the procedure more before having the surgery. Doctor did not tell me I would suffer with this much dryness. Turninets are designed to sway back and forth in your nasal canal to create moisture and when you altar them you destroy them from working properly. When I blow my nose nothing ever comes out because there is nothing to create mucus. Nasal sprays just dry it up worse especially the medicated ones. Nasal sprays are meant to stop a runny nose and sneezing so of course it would dry it up even more. I try and use coconut oil.
