It sounds to me like it could be a bacterial thing! Can you let us know what the doctor says? I would like to hear how it goes when you talk to him/her. Thanks!

I've had similar rash-type problems around my eyes too -- the little wrinkles as well (and i'm 27). A pharmacist once suggested to me that it could be an allergy to salicylic acid which is an active ingredient found in most facial cleansers. She pointed me towards cleansers and moisturizers that are free of salicylic acid and after just a few days, the rash cleared up completely and only returned once when I mistakenly bought a new cleanser with the acid in it.

Hope this helps

My daughter is 9 and she has had this under both eyes since she had her immunizations. It lightens up, then comes back worse when she eats food colorings and something else. . I haven't figured it out completely. But, I do think this is related to having too much heavy metals in the body. I took her off of food colors a few years back and only on special occasions to I allow her to have it (amusement park trips) but then her eyes are red for a few days afterwords. When she ate a lot of tuna from a can, it was worse. When she eats candy it gets worse. There isn't a doctor out there that would tell me it's a food allergy, but it is definately a food allergy in my opinion. I live with her and have seen that it is affected by foods. I just don't know which ones. So, I reccommend getting a vitamin and mineral/lead test .. and write down what you eat and drink for 30 days . . this will help. It's about self diagnosis unless you want to take a pill, that will later cause some other problem, so that by the time you are 50 you will be taking 10 pills a day. Good luck all.

I have almost the same thing you guys describe. except mine is a little red (mostly pink) and irritated. Mine is only on my left eye, however. Also, my irritation just goes under my eye like a half circle, but yet again a few mm below the eye. Just before I woke up with this, I had bought a liquid miracle-worker: Garnier Fructis Nutritioniste Skin Renew anti-puff eye roller. It is very cheap, and works like magic. Yes, I know it is supposed to be for puffing under the eye, but when I tried it, it stung a little, but no more than washing a wound with water. It has calmed the irritation and flakiness. I LOVE THIS STUFF, it is my life savior so I don't look like...I don't even know what. Hah. Your Welcome! I strongly reccomend it!!!

try dandraff shampoo on the rash, just be careful to keep your eyes closed. Someone recommended Nizoral, which I did eventually buy. I tried the travel size of Head and Shoulder first, to see if it helped. It did help, so I purchased the $15 Nizoral and the results were immediate.

This happened to me and I was allergic to soy, stopped eating soy and everything cleared up, my chinese doctor told me to eliminate 8 common allergic foods out of my diet and every 3 weeks, introduce one at a time and see when my eyes reacted, in chinese medicine the eyes are related to digestion. My problem cleared up. The common things to eliminate are, eggs, dairy, wheat, soy (its in everything so you have to be careful) nuts, fish. start there maybe

Its both comforting & terrifying to see this many people suffering from the same thing I am!!!! On Christmas Day, I noticed a small insect bite-like bump below my left eye. It was a little itchy, but no big deal. Over the next few weeks I got the same type of bump below my right eye, while my left eye worsened greatly. My left eye turned into what I imagine a chemical burn to be like: A large red patch, that occasionally oozes a clear liquid, then becomes dry & flaky. The skin peels off & then I think its going away, but it comes back again. Some days;when its at its worst, I wake up to an eye that is completely swelled shut. My right eye now appears to be getting worse. However, its not exactly the same as the left. It has the small bump in the outer corner like the left eye originally did, it also has a thin smile-shaped rash extending across the lower under eye region. Like most of you, both of my under eye regions look tired, puffy & wrinkled. Right after this began, I changed my skin care regimen. I was using an anti-aging serum(I'm only 26 but I figured it was never too soon to start). I have no history of sensitive skin or skin problems of any kind. I made the mistake of not reading the warning on the package. The product contains alpha hydroxy acid & stated that you should not be in the sun & to discontinue use for a week before being in the sun.....I work at a tanning salon & am an avid tanner(I have been tanning for 11 yrs). So after calling myself every name in the book I discontinued using that product & anything not hypoallergenic immediately. I only used that serum for 3 weeks tops. That was weeks ago, I assumed I had caused a chemical burn w/ the acid-tanning combo & was hoping it was healing.....Its only gotten worse not better & now my right eye is worse than it was weeks ago. If the AHA is not the cause, the only other things I can think of is beginning about 3 months ago, I noticed that my under-eyes looked a little puffier than usual & the skin where the under eyes meet the cheeks looked a little different texturally. I didn't think anything of it then, & still am not sure if that actually has anything to do w/ the problem at hand or not. .....I have no health insurance & pretty much no money, so unfortunately, a doctor's visit is out of the question unless its an ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY. Also, I'm a vegan and a bit of a naturalist, so any natural cure would be preferable, but at this point, I'll do just about ANYTHING to look like myself again. And, before I forget, I've been using hypoallergenic cleanser, cetaphil lotion, and aloe. I also apply ice when the swelling gets bad. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! :$

I developed a dry rough triangle shaped patch under the corner of my eye by the nose a couple of months ago. Tried various lotions and creams but started to get worse and felt tight and itchy. Got some Dr Bronners Magic All One organic baby balm and literally after a few hours could see and feel a difference. Been using it for a few days now and the irritation and the red patch have virtually gone.

I have used tea bags, usually chamomile, for under-eye puffiness, but never for this. I don't think it ever did much for the puffiness and circles as it is.

Thanks, but you can't use that around your eyes. I thought of using my coal-tar shampoo, but it cannot get in the eyes.

That's so weird because I use salicylic acid on a daily basis for years without any problems so I hope that this is not why I have this eye rash... I was always extremely sensitive to benzoyl peroxide which is why I loved finding products with salicylic acid for my sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin. I also thought that I might have eczema on my face and have seen creams & shampoos that contain salicylic acid to treat it. I am at a loss on this.

Insect bite looking thing on the skin with a rash could be Mrsa or Mersa. It's a very serious & contagious bacterial infection. Get that checked right away!

I have been dealing with the same thing for going on two months now. Started on lid of one eye & under the other, but now all around both & spreading to my cheek. I had something similar years ago all around one eye that started from an allergic reaction to penicilian, but took three rounds of cortisone pills to no avail. It kept creeping up for years. I remember seeing something online that said it was blepharitis and to clean it with baby shampoo. Baby shampoo helped & helps now, but it's temporary relief. That was over 10 years ago that it magically disappeared & now I have this.

At first I thought it was from being in the severely dry cold weather because my lips and whole face felt chapped. I aggravated it by trying Sudden Change Under Eye Serum which was horrible. I discovered I have these wrinkles from the dryness. I am 30 & too young for such deep wrinkles. And I have had dark circles for I don't know how long that do not even look better with makeup, tea bags, cucumber, you name it.

I have been using the same moisturizer for going on 20 years. Same with most products I use. Anything new I have tried recently was AFTER this started, mostly things I tried to wash it, moisturize, etc. I was using TriDerma, the one for rosacea & the one for rashes which seemed to help some, but now it is worse than ever. Everything burns and it still itches. It's raw & painful. Not to mention I look like hell. I am going to have to break down and go to a doc, but I don't want to get the run-around and have to try a million things before it clears up, if at all. Seems everyone on this forum has tried it all, sometimes with no results. I'll come back when I get rid of it!
