I'm 42 and this is my second time going through this. Last time the bleeding lasted for over a year. I don't have insurance & back then I drained my savings & my student loans trying to find out what was wrong without ever getting an answer. Back then they put me on the patch, which I wore for over a year before switching to bc pills because the patches caused severe mood swings that I could no longer handle. One day I ran out of bc pills, my dr refused to issue a refill without doing more tests that I could not afford & by some miracle the bleeding did not return once I ran out of pills. Now, 4 years later & it has started again. I have now been on my period for over 3 months. Excessive bleeding, large blood clots, horrible lower back pain & I am tired all of the time. I was able to get a few packs of different bc pills from friends & have been taking them for a little over 2 months now. I have been taking 2 to 3 bc pills per day & the bleeding just will not stop. I am miserable, depressed & even have had suicidal thoughts because I feel hopeless & don't want to go through this anymore, it is almost unbearable. No insurance, can't get medicaid, have called planned parenthood, health dept, etc... There is no help that I can find for a married woman, a mother; who is attending college full time. This has disrupted my life so much, the last time I had to quit school just as I was beginning my last 2 years of college to obtain my bachelors degree. I am now in my 2nd year back in college with 1 year left to go & this c**p happens again.

I'm 29, I've been having this problem to, the first time I had my period for 74 days before they finally did something about it. Which was to give me a D&C. Then they put me on birth control.  But whenever I ask them how am I suppose to have children if this problem consist and their own solution is birth control, they tell me just to work around it.  Now I once again have my period for 46 days, and they tried to give me medroxyprogestrone to stop it which didn't work, and said I'd probably need another D&C. But worse case scenario I'll need a hysterectomy (sp). To me it's utter BS that as many of us have posted and it seems like all their doing is poking in the dark and taking guesses. I want to have children, but the only solution for them is to stop that all together. Is that going to be their solution for everyone?

Nevermind their excuse of it's because your overweight, really well how come I know a bunch of overweight females besides myself and none of them have this problem but me.  Next they will say it's because you have a certain color hair. Give me a break.

I had an operation for a 5 inch cyst on my fallopian tube in August 2011. Before my operation, my periods were about a week long, although irregular. Since my operation, they seem to last for weeks on end. I bleed for like, 3 weeks, get a few days break, and then I start bleeding again. Usually they're light, making a pad last an entire day, but drags for weeks. This time, it's pretty heavy. I was sat down, coughed, and felt a lot of clotting fall out of me. Freaked me out.

I just started Apri three weeks ago because my doctor found follicles on my ovaries but not enough to diagnose me with PCOS and my periods had been very irregular. She gave me the birth control to start once I got my period and I am almost done with my first pack but I have had my period for over three weeks now and it is starting to get heavier again and the blood is mostly brown but sometimes red or blackish looking. I have had many of the tests suggested done already so I don't know what else to do. Also, since starting Apri I have gained eight pounds within two weeks which is very unusual for me and I am definitely not pregnant. Any help?

im 37, been  on a steady 5day on 21 days off schedule for over 20 yrs..  even weeks after  my pregnancies i went back to schrdule..  i just recenrlt start started a 2week spotted period where i used pantyliners the whole time.  was better then a tampon,   then i had 1 week off, and then it started up in a very heavy flow using super tampons and pantyliners due to my hectic work schedule.  ive got rhumetoid arthritis and im taking 3 harsh drugs for this. im hoping it is due to 1 of the drugs i started this yr as being the culprit. seeing as ive had no intercourse for quite a few months i know pregnancy isnt an option.

symptoms the last few months :  headaches  where i never get them, lower back pain, worse then a regular period pain. light headedness, weak, over tired,   im 200lbs, and 5'6   and pretty active but not a sport enthusiast, i eat decent homemade food and rarely eat out.. once a month is it, unless work has sme away from home. im a school bus driver so minimal stress job. my kids are great students. we shall see what my doc comes up with over the next while. im making an appointment to see him today

Hi.  I'm 30 years old.  Have had a battle with anorexia and bulimia for 16 years.  Naturally my periods were always semi normal.  The last several months however...  My period will come, but it will last for 2-21/2 weeks.  Not heavy bleeding... but enough blood where i need the use of tampons.  Along with that, horrible 24/7 hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia at times...  horrible pms pain, mood swings like ive never experienced before including horrible depression.  My breasts hurt.  they hurt the same way sort of that they hurt when i was pregnant.  am im definitely not pregnant.  Any ideas?  i know i need to see a doctor, but my situation is tough because im out of work and uninsured.  Someone mentioned to me the possibility of early menopause because it matches my symptoms and my history with eating disorder.  ugh... just confused.  :(

I have been on my "Period" for about 2 weeks now. I don't have the funds to go to the doctors because I have no insurance I've had a miscarriage in the past and I bled for a long time passing medium sized clots. Now it's the same thing all over again. I have sharp pains in my lower abdomin and cramps that hurts really bad. When I have a normal cycle I don't really cramp and if I do it isn't painful. Is it a possibility that I could be having a miscarriage?

I used to only get my period about once every three months, and they would be about 3-4 days long and very painful. But I've been on my period for over two weeks now and it has been painless but extremely stressful. About two or three times I day I start feeling the bleeding going from spotting to a medium flow and then, within 20 minutes, I get a blood clot. They're pretty big and it's super gross. I'm 19, going to university, and have no health insurance. Has anyone with a similar issue or there ever found the cause? I'm very stressed and don't know what to do,
