Hi,

I am a postdoc researcher in a laboratory. I am studying the use of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) as a replication competant oncolytic virus. VSV is a natural pathogen of cattle, swine, and horses but can induce experimental infection in many laboratory animals. In humans, VSV is reported to cause a self-limited disease characterized by myalgia, fever, and intermittent chills. The entire course of the illness is typically 1 week.

However, I just descovered that I am pregnant. So now I am wondering about the risk that a VSV infection can cause to a fetus? And if I should avoid manipulating the virus during pregnancy?

I hope you will be able to answer my question
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Nahn

Just wondering how your pregancy went and if you found the answer you were looking for. I am a postdoc as well and I am pregnant. I work with reovirus. We have a hood where viral infections are done and someone else works with VSV. I'd like to hear more about your experience.
