Dear Wade: Was there ANY penetration? Any leakage? If not you are OK. What it could be - especially with the cramping - that your girlfriend probably has a severe yeast infection or an inflamed ovary. That can really have an affect on her menstrual cycle. So she really needs to see a doctor, because if it is something to do with her ovaries then that needs to be looked at. ALSO if she is on the pill or just changed the pill, that will affect her cycle too. I am glad you both are still virgins, it is a BIG responsibility! Really think about it and talk about it at length. It is the only gift you can never return! And the outcome of giving that gift could have lifetime consequences. If you did penetrate, perhaps have her take a pregnancy test, just to be sure. Good luck and health to both of you.

Hi:
I know this must be scary for you. When you say you tried to have intercourse but it "didn't work," what didn't work exactly? This is important because if sperm was in the area of her vagina, even if you didn't penetrate her, sperm could have gotten in. Another question....Has she just started taking any type of birth control, i.e. pills, deproprovera, etc. These "drugs" can cause great irregularity with her period at first. Of course, she can always take a home pregnancy test. Be aware, however, that if she takes a home test too early, it might not detect the pregnancy. Get answers so that you two won't be worrying. If the intercourse attempt didn't work, perhaps you two aren't ready for sex. Think carefully about this. Perhaps you should wait.
