Decided I wanted a change from my usual salt&vinegar flavour crisps and bought walkers pickled onion instead (the British home-grown stuff... I think it's new?). About three crisps in, I noticed my lips started to tingle and sting - a little bit in the same way as salt&vinegar crisps do. So anyway, I finished the packet and realised my lips were burning. It wasn't until my brother told me my lips were white that I started worrying a little, and checked to mirror. All along the inside of my lips and along the part where both lips meet were completely gloss-white and stinging like mad. My tongue was stinging but it wasn't white (or at least not as much as my lips). I tried another packet the next day to see if the same thing happened, and it did. What is this? Does anyone know? Don't know whether it's important or not - don't even know if other people have the same reaction. Help = I'll love you forever! <3

It's also worth noting that certain foods, especially processed snacks, can contain a combination of various artificial additives and flavorings. It's possible that you are allergic or sensitive to a specific combination of ingredients that is commonly found in pickled onion-flavored snacks.
Food allergies can vary greatly from person to person, and it's not uncommon for someone to have a specific allergy that others may not experience.
