I am 29 years old. I've been a fitness instructor for five years, and I could freely say that I'm an expert in that field. But now, I want to extend my body program by adding elements of cross training. I need to know what are benefits of cross training. Can I combine it with the program I'm already using?

Of course you can. The main benefit of cross training would be injury prevention. If asked, many sportsmen would tell you the same. But there are other positive effects of cross training. First of all there is fitness improvement, then we have stronger motivation, and cross training could be seen as a break from standard training, which relaxes body and mind.
