Hi, folks. I have been looking at my mouth and I found some vesicles. My friend tells me this is called mucocele. I would like to know something more about this. What can a mucocele do to its environment? I hope someone here will know the answer to this. Thank you in advance.

Hi, there. Mucoceles are not so dangerous. They are swelling of the connective tissue filled with mucin. They are formed from ruptured salivary gland duct. Many of them pass spontaneously. If they do not pass, then they can be removed surgically. I speak mostly about oral mucoceles. I don’t know about other locations. I hope this will help. Please, don’t hesitate to ask if you need some more info. I will be glad to help.
