I tried for several years to quit pills cold turkey...and failed every time. Subpoena was the last house on the block for me. I have been taking it 11 months and very effortlessly have gone from half a 2 mg film a day to one every 3 weeks! It is definitely worth a shot to get your life back. I'm about to stop taking it altogether ( my Dr. Is aware and helping me). I am grateful for this, it has been an aid to getting my life back. I hope it works for you as well as it has me.

If weaned correctly you will experience very little to no withdrawal off of Suboxone. Just make sure you are mentally ready before you start weaning or yes your detox will suck it becomes mental not physical. Just talk with your dr. Good luck.

Wean down off them. Def not as bad . I weaned down to a small piece on my last day over a 2 week period and I felt a bit anxious etc but nothing as close to being as bad as opioid w/d

I am feeling the same way. I went to the Dr. because I had been using vicodin then went to fentanyl for fibromyalgia severe pain. I wanted to wean off the pain meds but she said oh we'll just get you onto suboxone and then it'll be a piece of cake (her words) I had just wanted her to tell me how fast to wean off the fentanyl patches but no she thought that suboxone was just wonderful well now I have central sleep apnea from the suboxone and am having trouble getting off the suboxone all the way. I'm so frustrated.

I took trazadone when I was trying to get off suboxone and it did nothing for me. Well it did make my heart race, but it sure didnt help me sleep at all. But maybe if you have been taking it it will help you, good luck

I have the same problem. I've tried every option and I was tired of being tired. My dr suggested taking a hit or two of cannabis before bedtime. It's the best advice I've ever got from a doctor. I'm not smoking to get high just to help me sleep. Definitely would consider it . Best of luck .

I see your post is over a year old but I hope things went well. Are you off the suboxone now?

Hi Im just curious how you’re doing with or without the suboxone now? Im down to 12 mg from 16mg a day. I’ve been on it for 7 years so I’m a little nervous but definitely ready to get off.

If you can stay away from suboxone do it, there is no easy way off this stuff, it is a hard drug to get off of, unless you are on something worse!

I’m not sure if you’ll even read this reply because your post was a year ago but I was in the same situation as you. I went from 30-90mg of opiates a day to 8mg-2 films of suboxone a day. Half in the morning, half at noon. I was concerned that I would get addicted to the suboxone which is always a possibility. I did some research and did you know that sub. can last up to 3 days in your body without harsh withdrawal? So what I did was take half in morning half at noon or night and then I didn’t take any for the next 2 days, just to see if it was mind over matter or if my body really needed to have the sub every day. Turns out, I didn’t. I went 2-3 days, sometimes 4 days without taking a sub. One month I knew that I couldn’t afford to pay for the sub so I intentionally saved some of my subs from the month before. I would cut them into smaller pieces to help last longer... and by doing so, I’m helping myself come off of them. My doctors plan is to have me on 8mg-2 for the next 7 months and then drop down to half for 7 months and then drop down again... that’s 21 months on subs, almost 2 YEARS! I’m trying to help myself now so I won’t need to be on them for that long.. and if I were you, if that’s a concern, I would try that. Just keep in mind, I’m NOT a doctor- I’m doing what I THINK will help me later down the road...so maybe talk to your doctor?
