I am 49 years old and my husband is 49. I suffer from diabetes but that is not as severe as my husband’s condition. His kidneys stopped working and now all that is left for him is hemodialysis. I know some basics of this treatment, but I would like to know what it involves.

Well, the main point of hemodialysis is filtering the blood, but the blood flow is still undisturbed. Ounce by ounce, blood flows through a filter that removes all the bad stuff from the blood, wastes, extra fluid etc. This means that clean blood returns to the body/. This has o be done couple of times in a week.
