I am 20 years old and studying medical college. I'm not what you would call an excellent student, but I am progressing somehow, managing to balance school with part time jobs. Anyway, we had class about paranoia recently, and it made me very interested in the subject. The mechanism, hallucinations, manic ideas, treatment, all of this got my attention. I also heard that phrase critical paranoia was used to mark some painting style. Is that true?

A student, working man and an art lover, you really have a lot of things going on in your life. Critical paranoia is a concept created by famous painter Salvador Dali. He used it for self induced psychosis. It's not that easy to explain the state of mind Dali tried to achieve. The simplest way would be to picture a child that's staring in the sky, imagining various forms by looking in the clouds. This fantasizing makes the child feel almost ecstatic. Intensify this feeling many times, and you’ll realize what Dali wanted from critical paranoia.
