Can you tell me what exactly dolphin kick is? When I was looking reading the list of swimming strokes I couldn’t find it. So, I’m confused now and I constantly hear that people are mentioning and saying that they have to master it. At the moment, I’m still exercising breaststroke and I’d like to try something new, and the name dolphin kick sounds interesting.

You’re close. Dolphin kick is not a stroke but part of butterfly stroke. It’s that first, initial kick that enables the swimmer to move through the water easily. Since you’re still a beginner, you should better master the basic techniques and after that you can switch to more complex ones. In my opinion, the last should be exercised butterfly stroke, since it’s so complex and difficult. There are several important factors that you have to master in order to be able to swim it properly. Breathing is fundamental part of this stroke and if you still have problems with establishing a good breathing pattern don’t think of butterfly. In my opinion, butterfly is the crowning touch of each swimmer’s technique.
