Hi All,

I am also going through this pain. I had perirectal abscess surgery 3 months back and I am still going through a pain during bowel movement. My main problem is I cannot keep it dry as after every bowel movement I had to sit in tub with warm water as the wound is touched and I have severe pain and buring at the rectum area. So I have to sit in tub for sometime and it becomes wet. I am taking sitz bath 3 times a day. Another issue is the hard stool Though I intake stool softner like Colace, milk of magnesia ,miralax, I still have hard stools. I am having metamucil and drinking lots of water. Doctor said if I have loose stools then this wil heal soon. But not sure why I am having hard stool inspite of these many medicines I intake. Any suggestion to have soft stools.

Just had a perianal abscess removed about a month ago. Had to have two incisions on both sides of the upper anal opening. One side had healed but the side with the infected abscess gland (4cm deep) has not healed yet. Doctors appoints these past two weeks have been good, stating that the wound is not infected, I don't have a fistula and the wound is getting smaller, but just taking some time to heal.

Hi guys I'm 19 and had perianal abscess drainage it's been 8 weeks since my surgery my incisions were quite big at first but are closing but I'm still oozing yellow pus. I wear sanitary towels every day. I have crohns. I find it hard to sit down and walk for long periods of times I get fatigued everyday. The process of healing is long as I'm talking a bath with dettol and salt everyday since my surgery. I feel I have a lump just above one of my incisions but I dunno whether it's another abscess or not. Going to the toilet is ok but the constant cleaning is a real pain. I still have the setons inside me. I'm a uni student who missed 2 months... Would you advise me to continue uni or defer as this is quite a long process of healing.

I would recommend you defer. Don't want to risk your grades or slow down recovery by stressing about studying

Well, I had a large abscess that turned into a fistula a few months later. My doctor told me to just soak in warm water, nothing else. I used a medium sized Rubbermaid storage box instead of filling the tub or doing sitz bath. Always keep the area clean. I felt bad from just the infection and antibiotics for several months. Remember to take multivitamin and vitamin D & B, and magnesium. Check with doctor about the lump which you should see him every month anyway. If you wear pads too long and get a rash use lotrimon Ultra for jock itch, that will cure it in a day or so. Did your abscess get packed for 48 hours after draining with cloth?

I am 4 weeks post surgery. Yellow mucous discharge is there. Pain 1/10. Was back to work on 3rd day post surgery. By now, wound size has reduced 50%. But healing is too slow. You talking about same conditions 8th week post surgery...gives me bad vibes.
