I am trying to gain a deeper understanding of Multiple Sclerosis and what causes this disease. Some people mention free radicals in the context of the development of Multiple Sclerosis, but then, other sources say that free radicals have little to nothing to do with MS. What role do free radicals really play in Multiple Sclerosis?

You have reached the core problem of multiple sclerosis with your question. The truth is that, while many advances have been made over recent years, especially when it comes to treatment options that are more effective and less expensive, we don't really know all that much about what causes MS, and much of the disease is still a mystery. Sure, there are many different opinions, theories and speculation. But nobody has got to the bottom of MS yet. That is probably why there is no cure yet as well.
