I am the original poster and just reread this post. It implies that pressures below 5mmhg and times less than a couple minutes are best. This is true, but only necessary for those just starting - starting with too much pressure you will end up with little dark spots from tiny blood vessels bursting. Not painful or harmful, but not pretty. -However- those who have been doing this for a while do not have this problem. In fact, pressures as high as 10mmhg (or even approaching 15) are safe for most. Additionally, times up to 10 minutes are safe. We recommend to give these tissues a chance to re-oxygenate every 10 minutes. This means take the pump off let things settle for a minute (a great time for massaging with a healthy oil such as coconut oil - or even for oral sex with a partner). Then put the cup back on and reapply pressure for another 10 minutes. The body experiences about 14 mmhg in atmospheric pressure (avg), so going too much below that is where the problem starts. Your body will tell you if you listen.

If you want 'too much information' ... my husband sometimes does this for me. While he is using his pump, he takes care of me. We use coconut oil (which absorbs quickly, is good for the skin, does not sticky and tastes good).
