Where do I find the Strength to Turn Away?

Everybody knows at least some person that has been addicted to alcohol or drugs. My father has been drinking for many years, before he managed to finish successfully treatment. He had no real progress, until he started to visit twice a week a group of alcoholics. It took him two years of support group activity to be able to handle without alcohol. My mother was so afraid about our future and if we would become alcoholic like him. But, I believe that his motive to give up alcohol was to provide us better future and not to create children with bad memories from childhood.
