Hello
I had bilateral grommets inserted yesterday. An hour or so after the op, I started with a continuous loud pulsing whooshing sound- it kept me awake all night. Will this settle? I've contacted my consultant who said try to pop ears and use a nasal spray and that it can happen. I can visit him at the end of the week, but wanted to know if it goes? It's very loud and I'm shattered. I have ear fullness but this was to be expected.

Hi, Shoppingqueen.
I think you don't have reason to worry, just follow your doctor's instructions and the whooshing sound will go away. It usually takes 2-5 days to subside, Also, if you notice fluid coming out your ear, don't be afraid, that is perfectly normal.
Do you feel dizzy? If not, that is a very good sign.
Anyway, go for a check-up when you can to receive further info.
Good luck and let us know how it went.
