Im 16 now and ive been trying to stop masterbating for 3 years and its ruining me socially, physically, and mentally. I feel depressed all the time and ive gained an antisocial disorder. I feel like crap all the time and i feel guilty and horrible everytime i do it. Sure ive tried to stop, the longest ive withheld was 3 weeks but i always ending up failing and my self esteem gets lower and lower......many people say its normal but its not really like that in my case, i felt weaker and more alone since i started and its strongly against my religon....I can't accept it, ive tried but can't...
...I feel like if i dont find a solution to stop doing this, perhaps ill never be normal ever again, Please Help! |

Dear Lord guys, what religion are you that you think that masturbation is a sin?
It's not, trust me. I'm a member of what I feel is probably one of the strictest religions in the world, and I've never been told by anyone in a religious position of authority that it's wrong or a sin. I'll withhold naming the religion itself so I don't sway your opinions but I'd be pretty safe to say that I've grown up in one very similar to your's.
Let's look at this religiously. The only area where the "seed" of man is mentioned in anyway is in the story of Noah being found by his sons in his tent, drunk, in an aroused state with his semen spilled on the ground. However, if you really get a true interpretation of the verses or REALLY read the verses yourself you'll see that it was really a larger sin by one of his sons that takes center stage in this story and not the "sin" of drunkeness and masturbation in anyway. His oldest son laughs and mocks his father for the state he's in and his other sons rush to cover their father and help him out of his predicament.
Society tells us that masturbation is healthy, your religion obviously tells you that it's dirty and wrong. Someone in your life probably also told you once not to pick your nose, it's a dirty habit. Something tells me you still do that as well (everyone does for God's sake!) and probably don't feel that much guilt about it in any way. Just because someone tells you it's wrong, or dirty doesn't always make it so.
If you feel that masturbation breaks the sin of impure thought, ask yourself something. "Is it impure for a married man and woman to have sex?" Answer: NO. So, if it's makes you feel any better when you're fantasizing about the lady you're fantasizing about when you're masturbating, imagine she's your wife. Go to town, it's not impure then. You don't know who you'll end up marrying so any girl you come up with in your head is imaginary. No impurity with a fantasy, she doesn't exist.
Enjoy your body. It's the only practice that won't hurt you physically like smoking and drinking can and I truly believe God gave it to us to understand our bodies better and allow us an outlet to enjoy ourselves. Just don't pray while you're doing it and I'm sure you'll be safe! |
