A relatively new promotion called Super Drain Formula promises significant weight loss in a short period of time. The information about this formula is hardly found online, and it seems that they do most of their advertising through email. All web-pages containing information about it are either closed or blocked for an unknown reason. As there are no data from scientific sources about this product, we will discuss health benefits of its main ingredient.
Super Drain Formula is a weight loss program for which you need to buy pills. The manufacturer claims that the main ingredient of these pills is Orthosiphon, which is a herb from the mint family. It is traditionally used to make Java tea and in traditional medicine.
Medical Uses Of Orthosiphon
Orthosiphon or Java tea has a diuretic effect, so it is used for kidney diseases and hypertension in traditional medicine. As it also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, it was used in the past for treating different types of infectious diseases. No studies have been done to support these claims.
Weight Loss With Orthosiphon
As Orthosiphon is a diuretic, it speeds-up the evacuation of water from our organism. Water loss will certainly decrease your weight, but that loss is temporary, and it is most certainly not the kind of weight loss you want. There are no data that orthosiphon has any effect on metabolism of fat, carbohydrates, or proteins.
Safety Issues
If you take Java tea or orthosiphon pills as a part of the Super Drain Formula, be sure to use the recommended dosage. Orthosiphon did not show any significant side effects in recommended doses. However, people with chronic heart failure, glomerulonephritis, and other kidney-related diseases should take Orthosiphon with caution because of its diuretic effect.
Further research is needed to investigate whether Orthosiphon has any effects on the metabolism, but the expectations are not promising. It seems this is one more trick to lose weight fast. There are many weight loss programs claiming to promote fast weight loss using pills. The only drug currently approved in the US for weight loss is Belviq (lorcaserin), and its effects are moderate.
Therefore, until some new revolutionary drug is discovered, you should not trust advertisements that promote pills for weight loss. Granted, some of them have been proven useful, but with great health concerns. For example, there were some pills that really helped losing weight, by producing severe gastrointestinal disturbances such as vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
