13 and in love ?!

Hi honey! OK! I have just gone through the last 2 years with my son - who's 14 - asking the same thing! When you are a young person, it is hard to decide when and how to put your heart out there! My 1st piece of advise - which I have told my son - is do NOT tell anyone how you feel about someone - NO ONE!! Not your BFF NO ONE! And I tell you why! No matter how much a friend is to you, they are also human and have a basic animal instinct! SO you go up to your BF and say "I REALLY like Johnny, but don't tell anyone" Within seconds, she is typing away on Facebook and Twitter, asking this guy if he likes you! And putting him on the spot! And then that person backs off, because they don't want to be taunted by others! Like my sons friends "OOOOOHHHH ******* Likes Ashley! KISS KISS KISSS" And he became angry and said "NO I don't!" So that got back to Ashley and she said the same! Also when you become interested in someone - that your friends haven't even looked at before - ALL of a sudden, animal instinct comes over and they think "OOH! IF Ashley like Tommy, maybe there is something about him that I am missing!" So all of a sudden THEY are after Tommy too! And will sabotage you at every turn - even though they REALLY dont mean too, they can't help it!

So I will say to you what I have told my son! Act cool, be his friend, see how it goes, IF you get the sense that he likes you too, perhaps say to him one day - JUST the 2 of you! "OK Tommy, I just want you to know that I like you more than friends, and I don't know how you feel, but I just wanted you to know OK" Be prepared that he might just not be there - maturity wise - and wants to be friends! Which you HAVE to give him the option! It CANT be ALL or nothing OK? So Lips closed and hold on and see what happens! IF someone asks you, you say to them "Why are you asking if I like Tommy?!" NEVER answer the question with a yes or no OK? Good luck honey and welcome to being a Teenager! 8-| ;-) XD
