Hey guys, I really need some serious help, I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone and then my left testicle starts hurting. I've had this happen a lot before and I turned 15 about 2 months ago. The "symptoms" of whatever it may be are swollen testicle (left), pain and sensitivity. Pretty much it feels like it's swollen and even the lightest touch can really hurt. Now I was looking this up and what I found made me kinda worried. It said that it's probably a damaged vein that directs blood backwards to the heart that's been damaged so it's sending blood into my left testicle so it becomes swollen. That doesn't sound too bad, it even seems bareable throughout life but then it said that this could cause infertility and generally happens to men aged 18-25. Since I'm 15 and I've been having this for some years now, I believe no more than 2 or 3, is making me worried but the bit I'm worried most about is the infertility. And then I found that there's 2 ways to fix this, both through surgery. I don't really want surgery on my testicles and I don't really want to talk to my dad about my testicles but if I'm going to be infertile then I will. Can someone please help me and tell me if I should at least see a doctor. Please. Thanks in advance

Hi Ryan,
Does this just happen when you've been talking to your girlfriend? Or when you might be sexually aroused? I'm thinking it could be vasocongestion (blue balls) if you say yes.
Does it go away if you masturbate?
You are thinking of a variocele. They're common and often don't require treatment.
Can you feel a "bag of worms" in your scrotum? That is a common sign.
If the pain continues see a urologist. They specialize in the male reproductive system and would be a better choice than your regular doctor.
Good luck.

You should see your GP or paediatrician in order to obtain a referral to a urologist and get this diagnosed and ask him or her what your options are. You and nobody here can give you a diagnosis of what is happening. A guess would be it could be a varicocele. There are a few ways to treat it: a less invasive embolisation, laparoscopic varicocelectomy, or watch-and-wait/do nothing. If you're man enough to think you want to marry and have children with someone, then talking about this with your father should be easy. Stop thinking about the worst possible scenarios, infertility, and such. You don't know. You have not been diagnosed. You THINK you have this and you're freaking yourself out about unknown outcomes.
