My 16 year old started having seizure-like episodes this summer. Her hands would clamp and elbows bend, her neck and chest would completely be flexed. She could only get short breaths in. From her hips down would not be affected and she'd stay concious through these. They could last anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. They would happen anytime of the day or night. Now she is having episodes where her stomach spasms. You can see her muscles flex and relax really bad. These episodes are completely painful. Head MRI, labs and EEG are normal. The dr. put her on prozac and a birth control, because the neurologist said these were probably anxiety attacks. She's been on prozac for about a month with no relief from episodes. Ativan and Valium will not prevent them either. She also takes Singulair and Claritin for passing out during her rigorous exercise during sports. She hasn't passed out for about a year being on that. Not sure if that is apart of this or not. She has seen 3 ER dr.s, a neurologist and her primary physician. All saying anxiety and that she's completely healthy. They have know idea what may be causing this. We are at our wits end with the I don't know answer. I am hoping if anyone else has gone through this or might beable to shed some light on this, so we can present something to her dr.
