Hi guys, for the past 2 years or so, ever since I had glandular fever I have been constantly tired. I know that it is one of the after effects but it seems to have dragged on for sooooo long. I have tried everything from getting exactly 8 hours asleep to sleeping for nearly a week straight ( i can wake up after 12 hours sleep and go straight back to sleep for another 12) but nothing works.. I iwas just wondering if anyone could help me out, I need my life back!

Hello -

you should definitely bring this up with your doctor. You should be asked to be referred to a sleep specialist. You will spend a night in a lab, and be monitored while you sleep. You might have sleep apnea, but there is no way to diagnose this or any other problem you might have without consultation with a sleep specialist. Good luck!

You should definitely bring this up with your doctor. You should see a sleep specialist. You will spend a night in a sleep lab where they will monitor all aspects of your sleep - brain waves, eye movements, muscle movements, and heart rhythms. You might have something called sleep apnea. You won't know exactly is causing this irregular sleep schedule until you see a sleep specialist. Good luck!

You may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is brought on from untreated (or sometimes treated) glandular fever. I developed it as a teenager, and I still have it to this day - and I'm now 26. There is no cure as yet, and the only way a doc can confirm you as having CFS is if you've had the tiredness symptoms, with no blood test results showing other illnesses, for over 6 months.

I hope this helps someone. :-)
