Hi dark red! Your welcome about the 4th... We are leaving tomorrow for our trip to visit my mom.. She lives in a different State but its only like a 3 1/2 hr. drive.. We have a van, so I do have a lot of leg room but with 3 little kids, we make some stops always along the way... So I will get out and try to walk around a bit.. I had to clean out my kids closet yesterday and get out all of the old winter stuff and find all their summer clothes.. this took a couple of hours... I had to find clothes for all of us, so we could have some summer clothes, so I had to dig through tons of clothes to find some.. Had to find some up in the attic and lifting boxes and suitcases, etc. and had to stand on a stupid chair for awhile to reach in their closets, so I did overdue it again... so needless to say, my whole body ached today along with my poor bottom.. All I did today was get my hair done at a salon and I even had a tough time sitting there for her to do my hair.. I had to take some breaks and walk around, I took my donut pillow to sit on and she was very patient... Of course before I left for my hair appt. I had a bad bleeding BM which was soft but it still feels like I am passing glass and I sweat and shake during the BM's and I could not take my percocet because I had to drive, so the salon visit was not fun :-( .. But I'm tired of laying in my bed.. I'm a independent person and I have to go back to work on July 15th, so I have to do some work around the house to get my body used to working... I hope this next 2 weeks does make an improvement on me healing because I honestly don't know how I'm going to stand for 9 hrs. at work and do all that heavy lifting... Just getting scared and nervous thats all... But a lot of other people on this forum who had this surgery have been back to work and they seem like they are getting back to their old selves, so hopefully I will too... But going to my mom's house, I know she won't let me do any house work, she's already emailed me and told me to forget about it! Ha ha.. XD I did look a little bit at the physical activies forum, so thank you for the info.... I hope you are doing ok? Let me know how you have been up to and what you do to keep yourself busy... OH by the way today is my 6 weeks post op... I can't thank you again for all your kind words and encouragement for me during this whole entire recovery for me... Take care :-D

I really laughed on the part where you have mentioned that your mother send you e mail saying that you will not work or do anything at here place. :-) You have good and caring mother, that's for sure.
It is good that you have will stop when ever is needed so you can stretch your self a little bit. And 3 and a half hour drive shouldn't be problem for you.
Bad thing is that you overdone your self again. And you had a bed result from that. Try to rest today as much as you can, to prepare your self for the trip.
You are visiting your doctor for check up when you come back from your mother's home, right?

Well I'm preparing to celebrate 4th of July with some of my friends. A little barbecue noting to big. Just few close friends.
And it is my pleasure talking to you too. :-)

hey there 3lovelykiddos.

well, i posted my update and I have to say, I too am very discouraged. my doc said that in a week i would be feeling a lot better and to be honest, I almost feel like my bm's are worse than what they were 3 weeks ago. it's hard to describe. i don't have the pain after the bm, but during. i feel the same, like i'm passing glass. it hurts so bad when it passes, once it does, i'm usually okay. today has been a bad day.

anyway, i just wanted to say hello and if you haven't left, have a great 4th. I hope to touch base about our progress after the 4th. We are also going on a little vacation.

i don't have a choice in doing anything, I'm up, doing laundry, dishes, cleaning.... I have to, my husband owns a restaurant. I stand a lot, is that bad???

Anyway, my appt is july 21st, lets talk again then.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi sheek.. I'm really sorry you are discouraged.... I have felt the same way... everyone else on this site seems to be back at work and running and exercises and back to their normal selves within 3 weeks... and I'm 6 weeks post op and still not back to work and still am on Percocets but only after BM's now.. so I cut way back on them. I explained to my doctor about my concerns, and he reassured me that I would be healed, it just takes some people to heal longer. Its our bodies... He told me "we are all different and our bodies heal at their own pace"! So it did help him understanding me being frustrated... I'm a healthy woman with 3 kids too.. I just don't get it? I've tried creams, etc but the only thing that really helps me is using the tucks pads after a BM... I still feel some swollen tissue on the outside and I'm bleeding now with clots after a BM and I did not bleed the first 4 weeks of surgery but all of a sudden I am? The nurse said its normal, so I just eat my fiber and take stool softners and drink my fluids... Everything that is a concern for me and all the pain I had and still have is so called "normal", so I get sick of complaining to the doc's office... because everything is going "normal"... So I just do a lot of praying that I will be healed and be back to my old self.. I really hope you start to feel better soon. I think you are 2 or 3 weeks behind me because of your surgery date?

I know, I do the laundry, dishes, cleaning too... My husband tries but I do it better... LOL.... If you have to stand a lot, try to take frequent breaks (if possible) but I know you have your hands full so thats probably hard on you... You have a nice little vacation too. We are still in a different State for a week... I'm using mom's computer.. Ha ha..

By the way what did your second opinion doc say to you about further sugery? Keep me updated when you have time... I've been thinking of you... take care and I hope you start to feel better... I am getting better everyday... so there is hope!

Well I hope that you all had a nice 4th of July and that you had no problems over the weekend.
I'm interested if you have tried Actimel? I've heard that it is really good.
3lovelykiddos are you returning to your job soon? Will you prolong this?

darkred, I haven't heard of Actimel. I would think that would be up to our doc's to tell us about a med that might possibly help in any sort of way. my doc perscribed lidocaine, but only after I complained about the pain so much. i don't think rectal doc's have any clue. I'd like to stick a tree branch up their bum's....twist it around, pull it out, and see them pass bm's 2-3 times a day w/out saying every swear word known to man. That sounds really evil, but I just don't understand this "there is no medication out there to help it heal, it just has to heal on it's own". I think that's complete horsh*t! Atleast give me something I can insert inside to help with the pain of passing a bm, so I don't feel like I might pass out.

on my other thread, i've just been using rectagel inside and out, not a lot, just a little and I can not describe to you how much better my bm's have been feeling. I don't cringe while on the pot anymore.

3lovelykiddos, I don't envy you- having to go back to work soon...which involves standing and lifting.

my thoughts are with you. Keep me posted and thank you for responding to my threads.

Hi sheekchic,
Actimel is not a medicine. It is a yogurt and, as I heard, helps a lot with your BM.
It is a hard thing for doctors to imagine in what kind of pain you are because in general most of them don't have this kind of problems. Last month I suspected I had this problem, and fortunately I don't, but got interested. This is reason why I'm watching these threads to find out how people treat them self after surgery. What are the experiences of most who had this.
The main problem is that you don't know what will happen to you, so you could prepare your self. It seams that we need to get as much information as we can on many topics.
Really hope that you will get better as soon as possible.

Hey, I've just finished reading these latest posts and I'm hoping someone's still checking these threads? I had the surgery almost two weeks ago and I have'nt had a bm for four days. I'm wondering how long before it becomes a problem? I eat high fiber, drink tons of water, taking; colace, fiber and correctol. I get bad stomach aches, but no bm. I'm really worried because the last time I went two days without a bm, I ripped out stitches and had the worst pain of my entire life and had to go back on pain meds. Please let me know your thoughts! Wendy

Onefushiarose, yes I am here but I just had my second surgery on July 15th, so I am not able to sit.... I too get constipated very easy, thats why I had to have this second surgery. I had a hemorrhoidectomy, 7 weeks ago, and got constipated for 10 days, then passed huge impactions which caused me a terrible fissure... so I just had surgery on my fissure... I'm in still a lot of pain and get constipated and my stomach hurts so badly but I make myself drink Miralax with gatorade, with 2 senekots and I eat raisin bran, wheaties, fruit, drink a lot of fluids, so I truly understand your pain... I will keep you in my prayers... Please keep us updated as I will too... Take care... I really hope you start to feel better soon... Its been a long journey for me so far!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear this. onefushiarose, have you had a bm yet? If you go too long, you will have to go to the ER and have it manually extracted. Did you call your doctor? I went from Wednesday until Saturday and it was the worst pain of my life...I ripped stitches and almost passed out from the bm. Call your doctor.

3lovelykiddos, I'm so sorry that you had surgery on a fissure. What do they do to fix that? I've had two .... but they went away with medicine. I am thinking of you.

Well, an update on me, I went in for my 6 week follow up and I'm still not healed from the hemorrhoidectomy. She doesn't understand why I'm not healed all the way, so she took this long, skinny stick with this black medicine on the tip and stuck it on the incision. I almost kicked her in the face. I think it was silver nitrate? Is that right? She said it was an anti-biotic sort of to help speed up recovery. Well, I had a bm this afternoon and though it only hurt a tiny bit, I had blood again and I don't know what that means. It just feels uncomfortable and stings a little from that medicine she put on there. I go back in 6 weeks and if the incision is not completely healed, I have to go back for more surgery to stitch up the incision site. At this point, I'd rather get hit by a bus!

3lovelykiddos, Thankyou, for writing back! I have been feeling so alone. I'm so sorry that you had to have a second surgery. Let's hope everything works out this time.
Here's my story: July 9th, I had a formal hemerroidectomy. The next day, I went to the ER for intense pain. They dosed me heavily with an injection of pain meds and sent me home. I made it almost through the night, but about 4:00 am, I was back in the ER and they admitted me to the hospital for pain control. I did well in the hospital and had my first bm and my second one right before I was discharged. They hurt worse than anything I had ever experienced.

Two days after I was released, I thought I was doing so well, I went off the pain meds. What I hadn't thought about was I hadn't had a bm in two days. When I went to the bathroom, well I can't even describe it. I think I would have rather had a bullet in the head if someone had offered it to put me out of my misery. Does shards of glass sound familiar? My heart raced, I was sweating and I'm actually I surprised that I didn't pass out from the pain. I couldn't get to my painkillers fast enough.

The next day I went back to the doctor, whom informed me that I ripped out a bunch of stiches. She put me back on the pain med and scheduled me to see her in one week, which is this Thursay. I have not had a bm since Friday and I'm worried. Yesterday I took three laxitives and still nothing.
Thankyou for your prayers, I will also keep you in mine! Thanks for listening, and I look forward to hearing how well you will be recovering.
Hugs, Wendy

SheekChic, Thankyou for your post! I'm happy to hear that going to the bathroom is getting easier, now I just hope the wound heals. I totally understand how you would rather get hit by a bus! I told my husband I would rather die than ever be in that much pain again after I ripped my stitches out and he called my daughter and told her to watch me and make sure I didn't kill myself! My daughter, who's 16yrs. old, told my husband it was just an expression of how bad it was, and that I really didn't want to die!LOL

I still have'nt gone to the bathroom and I did call the doc, but she's not in today or tomorrow. They receptionist said she would run it by another doctor, but no one called me back. I sent my husband to the drug store to pick up some laxitve saline solution and I drank that. I have a horrible stomach ache, but I've had a lot of those and still nothing.

I don't know what to do, I'm really scared of how painful it will be when it finially comes out!

Keep us posted on your recovery. Hugs, Wendy

HI 3lovelykiddos. I'm really sorry to hear that you had your second surgery. I really didn't heard from you from 4th of July, and really touth that you are fine now. But hearing that you are in pain again it makes me really sad. How are you today? Is it any better. I really hope that you will get fine as soon as possible.

I think I'm in trouble. After taking an oral saline enema last night, I woke up to terrible lower gas pains. I went to the bathroom, hoping I was finially having a bowel movement. I had some very watery diareah, but not very much and definitely not for days worth. It seemed like more wanted to pass, maybe a larger stool, but couldn't. I really don't know if it was harder or not though. Right now pressure is pressure and until it actually tries to pass the anal area, I don't know if it will be diareah or not. I don't know if I'm making any sense or not.
I don't know what to do. I'm still sitting on the toilet, but that's not good either. I'm frustrated, sad and I'm crying. Could I maybe try to take a Fleet saline enema and gently insert it into my bum? I'm so desperate. I will call the doctors officer again this morning, but I know my doctor is out until tomorrow. If no one calls me back, I will call the triage at the hospital and see what they say. I don't want to sit in the ER for four hours waiting for them to see me. If I could just make it through one more day, my doctors appt. is scheduled for tomorrow.
Thanks for listening, I just needed to vent to people who understand what I'm going through. I hope everyone is having a better day than me! Wendy

PS. my urge to go to the bathroom has now passed again. Ugh! :'(

Make sure you are drinking alot of water and eating high fiber foods.

Try to relax and let it come naturally. Easy to say hard to do. It will hurt like the dickens when it comes. Through this forum I found that the watery stuff is normal and will stop once you pass the big BM. Don't strain either but you will feel spasms and may not be able to stop.

This is the worse surgery I've ever had and I've had several back surgeries!!!

There is light at the end of the tunnel.
