You are exactly like me!
I have worried about this for years. Doctors say I am fine but I keep insisting that there is something wrong. It also seems to worsen with stress. For example when I am going to fly I get very stressed and this "reflex" starts. Even knowing that it means nothing still does not give me peace of mind.

What seems to help me is Mylanta which contains simethcone (spelt wrong) or another medicine called No-Gas

The thing that scared me half to death was when I was measuring my pulse and noticed that my heart "skipped a beat" while feeling this reflex.... Now although this has been going on for years and years I still feel scared to death when it happens.

Funny thing is that when I work out really hard it never happens. When I go for a 15km walk... it doesn't happen. So I know I am a fit and healthy person.... but it STILL scares me. I need a cure for THAT.

Hi all thougt I would share as it might relate to some people.  I have been suffering what I assumed was heart palpitations but when I paid special attention to them it seemed that they were actually coming from the contre of my stomach.  I have a hiatus hernia and have been for the last 3/4 years been taking nicorette gum after I quit smoking.  The more nicorette gums I chew the more I get the stomach palpitations so in my case I thin it is just the hernia telling me it doesnt like the nicotine.  I am slowly reducing the dosage and hope to be nicotine free within a few weeks so I am hoping that the palpitations will vanish forever.  FYI nicorette gum also causes my extreme body aches and fatigue so much so that i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I can see now that this is also nicotine related.  A doctor told me that nicotine reacts with the bodys nervious system and it is possible that this is causing both the palpitations and the extreme body pains.

I have had heart palpitations, skipped heartbeats for 44 yrs. I am 69 yrs old and like everyone else I've had all
of the medical workups, test and what have you and not much improvement. I had a hiatal hernia and did the
surgery to repair it, didn't help. I do have a problem getting a deep satisfying breath, have to yawn to be able
to finally get that breath of air. So if any of you have or had the deep breath problem and found a remedy to it,
please let me know by posting on this site. Thank You!

I had the deep breath problem maybe a couple of years ago and the heart skips along with it. fast forward to this year. I turns out I have acquired asthma. Not sure if this is even related.

I am 36 years old stopped smoking 6 years ago, sober for two years, stopped caffeine intake two years ago, 192lbs, standing 5'13".

So after I posted on this site a few months back about my heart skipping when swallowing or inhaling deeply, I went to three specialist: 1. Cardio, 2. Gastro, 3. Pulmo.

Cardio had me worked up again. Findings were OK.

Gastro gave me something for acid reflux as "shotgun" prescription, saying after five days if no effect, drop it. He gave me the prescription because I hinted about the possible esophagus irritation i read maybe on this site or similar. No effect.

Pulmo, on the other hand, said it was a side effect of the asthma inhaler I was taking. For most of her patients, the side effects were increased heartrate according to her. But for me it was the skips. She gave me anti-allergen I guess this is for the esophagus reacting to the inhaler. But I should mention I dropped every medication (well, minimized in the case of the inhaler - instead of two puffs 3x/day I just had one 3x/day) I was on before going to pulmo and the swallowing thing went away after five days give or take.

Im not sure but I have my own theory as to why this heart skipping happens to me:

1) I am on night shift for over 3 years now. So goodbye regular sleeping habits.

2) I am used to travel by motorcycle to work so pollution is a possibility.

The above mentioned is most likely form your gallbladder...I worked with a lady many years ago in the medical field that was aware of the gallbladder condition...put off surgery until her heart raced one day got dizzy and passed out...also had extensive bloating etc...if you google sighs and symptoms of gallbladder disease it will tell you..can be extremely dangerous if becomes gane green and leaks out into your system ..hince septic...= blood infection...don't hesitate too have something done as a result you will feel much better..symptoms vary per individual.

Did you ever get a diagnosis? They should consider doing genetic testing on you

I've always had palpitations, but lately I too have been experiencing a flutter/flip flop sensation! It sometimes takes your breath away . Cardiologists says there is nothing wrong with my heart though , but it's still uncomfortable & worrisome ! I do get a lot of gassy rumbling sounds & acid too . I'm on a quest to find the answer to this annoying sensation & willing to share with you when I've found out why this is happening .
