I've had a similar problem. It began in 2010 when I found that, while asleep, I'd wake up in severe pain originating on my left side between my rib cage and xiphoid. The pain feels like the worst runner's stitch imaginable going straight through my back. It's every night around 3AM depending on when I go to sleep. I have to get up and walk around and it buys me another 2 hours before I wake up in agony again. Only during sleep. I could lay around forever awake and it does not occur. Doctor has given me X-Rays, CT Scan of Abdomen and Chest w/ Res, and sent me to a GI specialist. Specialist did the endoscopy procedure and told me I am in perfect health. They are recommending pain killers but this pain is my body screaming to "get up" so I am quite certain if I slept through it I would never wake up again. And so its 8 years of pain and misery and nobody has any idea what this is.

Mine started suddenly a week ago. It feels like gas bloating of my entire colon, yet little or no gas passes. It wakes me up usually
Around 2:00 am; not pain exactly; more like discomfort. When I get up in the morning and stir around for a few minutes it goes away. I never have digestive problems so the suddeness of the start makes it particularly noticable.

I have suffered the same abdominal pains as everyone here for over a year now. I have also had additional symptoms that when looked closely are interrelated in one way or another. It all started at a stay at one of the national chains of Inns (Hotels). On my second night of five, I awoke around 6:30 in the morning with my eyes boiling as if they were radiated, as if I hadn't slept at all for days on in. I carried on baffled and not sure what had taken place. A few months later, I began having pains on my lower back sides or deep down the middle of my abdomen (difficult to pinpoint). I visited multiple doctors and had blood tests done--results: I had borderline high blood pressure. So, I've stopped deliberately salting my food, but the abdominal pains and the loss of sleep continue unabated. I explained to the docs my symptoms and they would say there's nothing they know of that would explain these symptoms--abdominal pains that come on only at night and miraculously disappear once I'm up and going in the morning. I've been experiencing chest pains and anxiety attacks during the day while I'm trying to function as normal as possible on 4-5 hrs of sleep -- sleep that isn't even deep or "restful."
I've been digging deep trying to put together the pieces of this troubling puzzle. And, I think, I have come up with an explanation or a possible cause for these symptoms.
The cause I believe is this modern form of radiation we call WiFi. Studies show that WiFi signals as low as 2.4 GHz can have adverse effects on brain activity and energy levels. Guess what, I've been dosing myself with 5G in my bedroom for the past 3yrs! Research done in 2014 with MRI technology found that persons exposed to 4G radiation had several areas of reduced brain activity thus explaining problems with concentration and simple memory tests. Furthermore, WiFi has been linked to the development of insomnia--that's right folks, the constant bombardment of WiFi pollution interferes with falling asleep and sleep patterns leading to sleep deprivation followed with other serious problems--problems which include depression and hypertension i.e. high blood pressure.
As to the link with my anxiety attacks and chest pains, it has been found that WiFi signals can provoke cardiac stress.
Lastly, WiFi frequencies have been found to significantly increase oxidative stress levels causing cellular damage and impacting DNA structure. This exposure to wireless frequencies can lead to abnormal pregnancies or worst yet, the complete failure of a pregnancy. Not to be forgotten yet extremely controversial is the link to cancer from exposure to WiFi.
Take this with a grain of salt; this may explain these weird symptoms or maybe not. It's definitely food for thought.

I think this is happening to me. It's 5 am and I'm the only one awake, but I'm in A LOT of pain. I asked my mum but she didn't say anything, this is the worst pain I've ever felt.

My brother, 57, is a landscaper. He has worked hard for years now. Has same complaints. Seems ok throughout the day but at night by 9:30 ish he begins having severe pain all across his lower abdominal area. Had colonoscopy and other GI tests done. Ultrasounds, and labwork as well. The tests were good. The best the docs can tell is that he 'probably' has severe gastritis. ??? Riiiight....ive had severe gastritis myself and while it is horrible and painful, it was treatable and i got well after a few weeks. My brother has suffered over a year. The treatment for gastritis/gastroenteritis did not help him. AAAAAND...THEY WONT GIVE ANYTHING FOR PAIN....REALLY???? !!! The pain at times is so debilitating that he can not get up, he just lays there and sobs. The docs still dont know what is wrong. He is given an antibiotic on occasion with no relief from that either. He does not have pain while hes working and a hernia hasnt been found. Im sad for all you folks suffering from this mystery illness. I wish my brother could get something to relieve the pain. I feel so sad and helpless seeing him suffer like this. Prayers for all of you. Hopefully some explanation and treatment will be found for yall soon.

My pain is in the lower abdomen. I have extreme pain in my left inner hip joint area and also above my lady part. Hurts worse at night. I'm very close to seeing a doctor about it, but since it's not completely debilitating I have been avoiding doctor and not sure what to do. Should I be more active? Do I have a disease? My doctor seems to think I am healthy. I'm 36 and used to be much more active but my hip hurts so bad, just to walk. And this pain is severe even like in my ovaries? Am I just losing estrogen and it hurts?

My left side ower back pain began approximately 7 to 8 months earlier. Waking up after approximately 4 to 5 hours sleep continually disrupted my sleep, to the point that I began taking naps during the day.

A couple of items I discovered. My vitamin "D" was extremely low and second, I had recently changed medication to combat acid reflex -- to Pantoprazole.

The most common possible side effects --"stomach-area(abdominal)pain

I have been taking a Vitamin "D" supplement for approximately 2 weeks now and this has eliminated the majority of the pain. Also sleeping for a full 8 hours.

I have exactly the same, if I sleep sitting up no pain but lying down after 4-6 hrs left lower abdomen pain and can’t sleep unless I elevate like sitting. In trying to work out what it is I was diagnosed with AS first but then they said it was only Chrons thankfully. But now I’ve cleared all flare ups of Chrons and my inflammation is not showing in tests but I still have the night pain while lying down. Just no answers why

Any update? I've been dealing with these conditions for almost two years. I'm 40 years old, male and have a wife and three kids to provide for. I work everyday and also take online classes to further my career so it's driving me crazy not being able to get a full nights sleep. I've been to so many doctors appointments and had almost every rest they can think of done. Nothing shows up. I'm tired constantly and just want rest!!!!! If anyone knows what it could be please let me know. I was addicted to opiates in my 20s but have been clean for around ten years now. Maybe Im paying for the damage I did to my body???

I Have Phleboliths which are small, round lumps of calcium that form in a person's veins. They often show up as white spots on pelvic X-rays, and they can be mistaken for kidney stones. They reduce circulation in my abdomen at night when i sleep causing pain because my blood pressure drops when sleeping but when i get up and pee the pain goes away. Or i massage the pelvis to get circulation going. And i use a hot pack.

I have had this condition for 20 plus years. It is likely not all of us are describing the same thing but those who are describe lower abdominal pain, usually in the middle of the night which makes sleep all but impossible and is relieved by getting up. All tests are generally normal. THIS is highly UNLIKELY to be anything to do with peptic ulcer. It seems functional. but the postural element is intriguing. Relaxation of back muscles leading to referred pain from nerve sources? Some sort of changes in cerebral pressures? I do find it fascinating AND reassuring that there are 32 pages of folks here suffering from this (no I am not happy we are suffering but misery loves company?). i had thought it to be a variant of IBD but the postural element should make that unlikely and in my case it is not always accompanied by changes in BM's
