Months ago, I had a nerve test done by a neurologist. (He determined that I had nerve damage to my ulnar nerves in both arms and hands from computer use.)

I had a reaction to this test which is evidently very unusual. I had had this same test done many years ago in various parts of my body, but had no adverse reactions then. This time, however, by the next morning after the test, I was unable to use my hands and arms. People had to care for me for several months. From that time on, in addition to the pain, numbness, burning and difficulty of use became the norm and continues to this day.

I am now having problems in my legs (they were not nerve tested) and doctors are having trouble diagnosing what is wrong with me.

My cousin is a hospital doctor and internist, and he says he remembers reading something somewhere long ago that if you have that kind of unusual reaction to a nerve test, it means you have a certain disease, but he can't find it, and has asked several neurologists and has gone through a neurology text book to no avail. My own neurologist does also not know.

Does anyone know what such a reaction to a nerve test could mean? I am desperate for a correct diagnosis, and think if someone knows the answer to this, it might help lead to a diagnosis for my unknown condition.

So many thanks!
