The fact that your period came indicates 2 things:
- You are not pregnant. A period comes because implantation has not taken place, and your body's preparation for pregnancy was not needed. Rarely, some women have periods up to birth. But if your period was normal, it is a good sign you are not pregnant.
- Your last week's activity was probably not in a fertile period. Your period arrives about a fortnight after ovulation, and the egg is only viable for about a day (but you don't give dates).
With regard to sperm, they probably were no longer on his hands, provided his hands were wiped completely clear of semen. However, sperm do not die immediately they are stranded, but the likelihood is that there were none on his hands. So it pays to be careful. He should have washed his hands. However, if by 'fingering' you mean playing with your clitoris, there is less chance of sperm transfer.
