Mike C,
I seriously want you to know how much that comment is going to help me. It really is so great and so important especially for people with a lot of or very complex medical issues. Even the action of doing it sounds like a good thing to control anxiety and get the best out of the EXTREMELY short time you experience with your psychiatrist. I am on this site a lot and have been using it as a while and have never once commented on any thread I have seen but I feel like you should know how important that was to me and how much I appreciate it. Thanks again!

Thank you! She is probably a cashier at the pharmacy and thinks that somehow gives her in depth medical knowledge. It isn't safe to throw false info around when it comes to these drugs. Can be very risky and troublesome.

From my intensive research Prozac increases the half life and plasma levels of adderall by inhibiting one of the main enzymes that breaks it down in the liver and brain cyp2d6 I'm taking both as well, I used to take Zoloft which was only a moderate inhibitor of this enzyme but Prozac is a strong inhibitor, it helps keep my adhd undercontol all day and night, you may want to talk to the doctor about lowering the dose of adderall to half because the Prozac raised the plasma amount 5 fold. Just be careful. And it's recommended not to take anti acids of in kind as well cause it changes the ph of your urine so the adderall will be reabosorbed in the bladder and last even longer. Good luck and if you have any questions about medicine ask me I'm not a doctor but I read like oneshould haha

They are not addictive. I have been taking them for years and I can live without it. In fact , my body has gotten so used to it, that I don't feel I'm taking it. Trust me. It is not addictive.

Depends on the anti depressant, Ive been on an ssri, prozac, for years now and I can assure you that it is not addictive, not psychologically nor physiologically. I have heard that it is possible for an anti depressant NDRI, wellbutrin for example, to become addictive. I have nothing to support that claim though. In my personal experience, and in my opinion, prozac in all of its doses is relatively inneffective, although if taken consistently for an uninterrupted and extended period of time, it can certainly treat minor cases of depression. But I emphasize the importance of dosing consistently for at least a month before judging the drugs depression-surpression ability.

Not an MD, so take me with a grain of salt

My 21 year old son just passed away after being on Prozac 60mg & Adderall 60 mg per day for the last 27 days. He also had bi-polar disorder. I believe that these medications played a big part in his death which was self-inflicted, but completely unlike him. Always ask questions about medication interactions before taking them.

I am very sad to see a post like this and sorry for your loss, I can not pretend to imagine the pain you must be feeling. I will say that you need to research the interactions of Prozac and Adderall together as they can induce a condition called serotonin syndrome. " Talk to your doctor before using FLUoxetine together with dextroamphetamine. FLUoxetine may increase the effects of dextroamphetamine, and side effects such as jitteriness, nervousness, anxiety, restlessness, and racing thoughts have been reported. Combining these medications can also increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."

I forgot to add that Adderall is most definitely not a good choice for treatment of Bi-Polar disorder as it can increase mania which is a common episode in Bi-Polar pathology which I am sure you are aware of. I hope that you have consulted an attorney as I do believe you have a malpractice case on your hands there and even if it does not make you have any more help dealing with your pain and loss, sometimes the fact that someone is held accountable for their influence and / or cause of a situation can bring feelings of closure in parents in your situation.
