Summer time is the time of allergies. Just as the last one caused by ragweed pollen arrives.
But researchers from Yale University now have a new discovery on the subject. Until now it was thought that allergies occur in people who have grown up in unhygienic conditions. But now we have a new theory.
Professor Ruslan Medzhitov said that allergies are actually evolutionary body response to the increasing pollution in our environment. Since there is almost nothing in common for different chemicals and substances that cause allergies, he says that there is a reason why they occur. And that is that we do not need to tell us harm.
"How do you defend against something that you breathe and do not want? You sneeze, cough, spit. Or on the skin you scratch to remove it," says scientist.
He even proved that allergies reduce the concentration of toxins and other harmful substances in the body.
So, people who suffer from allergies are more advanced evolutionary terms than those who do not have such a strong reaction, concludes the research.
