I have a reaction like this. It didn't used to happen - when I was younger and got acrylic nails, no problem. Last 10 years or so. And - get this - ONLY on the middle and 4th fingers of each hand SO weird. the pads of the fingers get really itchy and red/swollen. The main prob is the tiny tiny blisters and itchy area that forms. I got an RX cream for it (actually the cream was for my eyelids which ALSO sometimes get a reaction to eye shadows but for the life I me I can't determine which brand - shadow - color causes it). I stopped with the acrylics.. and now only get the 'glue on nails' that you're supposed to wear for 2 weeks max. (they do look great and are way cheaper). BUT... often the same reaction. So now I think it might be NAIL GLUE that I'm allergic to. as mentioned... this did not used to happen. but I guess we can develop allergies we didn't used to have.
anyway it gives me an excuse now when the nail place tries to sell me on a 'full set'.... No, I'm allergic!

I also do this. I figured it out on my own without a Dr, but it does take care of the problem. Also figured out that its the bonding aide they put on your nail before putting the acrylic on that was making me feel the allergy. If they don't use the bonding agent, then I have no reaction.

hi, I have been having a strange allergy for a two or so, the same time I had my nails first done on the salon.  My whole body itches,  sometimes I just feel like pulling my hair and my skin out.  And just now I noticed that when I itch gets worst. Before I changed my food, my soap, bed covers, and nothing changed.  I really thing could be the nails.Any advice, please.

Like you my whole body itches!!! I recently got rid of my acrylic nails because I suspect that the itching head, neck arms and basically my whole body is having an adverse reaction to something in the nails. I only had my right hand nails acryliced so that I was able to play the guitar with them, then I started getting an itchy earlobe on the same side, (Using that acryliced right hand to scratch the itch), then the itch spread to the other ear, but not as severly to the other ear. An itchy rash showed up on my left elbow, (Using that acryliced right hand to scratch the itch), my neck has also become very itchy, and bumps have shown up like rashes, all on the right side, and yes I'm (Using that acryliced right hand to scratch the itch) I have come to the conclusion my acrylic nails are the beast of burden. Now my body is going through a bit of a battle to rid itself of the toxin the acrylics have caused to seep into my body. I am on antihistamine to try to ease the itch, just started that two days ago, so still waiting for it to kick in, twice daily I'm taking a couple of panadol, because I have developed a sore throat, and I'm thinking that it's because my immunity is under attack. I have to approach my doctor once again to ask her to investigate my suspicions. My advice would be seek a doctors help! Tell them about the nails! I'll keep you posted on my doctors visit. good luck

I have seen a dermatologist for this condition. I realized about 20 years ago that the acrylic nails were the culprit for my fingers.  So I stopped getting them. I lived with my yucky finger nails.  Then about 10 years ago, I was at a craft fair and feeling all of the soft items, and then again, I got the itchy, swollen, blistery rash on my hands.  Heat makes it spread and there is not a cream out there that takes away the itch.  I realized that I must have touched something that had acrylic fibers in it.  So I was very careful from then on when I went anywhere. Then about 7 years ago, I developed the same thing on my feet. Except this was so much worse than anything I had ever gotten on my hands.  The skin on my feet actually started falling off. And the itching was more than I could handle. I finally went to a dermatologist who prescribed a steroid cream.  It takes about 1 week for it to work, but it gets rid of the rash quicker than the 3-4 weeks it would take on its own.  Turns out that each time I come in contact with the acrylates (acrylic), my reaction becomes worse.  And every shoe company uses acrylates in the making of their shoes.  And Skechers is the worst.  I have to wash a new pair of shoes at least 10 times before I can even wear them, or I won't be walking anywhere while the medicine takes affect.  Good luck to anyone who is allergic to acrylic.

It's like jell nails with no primer and they are not as hard on your natural nail as acrylic's but not to many people know about this product and looks so much more natural....

Hi everyone, I am really pleased to hear that i am not the only one who experiences the same symptoms.  Does anyone know of a suitable type of product that we can use so that we can still enjoy false nails?

Ok i'm almost certain i've had this mma acrylic on my nails, they were (last minute) and cheap, i thought i was onto a winner until now-i've had them soaked off which took 5 hours and i am now suffering from numb finger tips which i think is spreading! I'm going to my gp, but want to know if there is a reporting process if you suspect a banned product is being used?
