Can anyone tell me how long antibiotics stay in system with a UTI or bladder infection? Do they continue to work for 7-10 days after medication is finished?

Antibiotics can take two to three weeks to leave your system. They seem to work overtime to clean up your system even after you stop taking the pills. Also, some antibiotics work longer or shorter depending on the kind. For instance, Neomycin, is not completely absorbed into the blood system and is excreted out through urine and fecal matter. In this case, it is only in the system for 4-5 days. Typically for a UTI or bladder infection a stronger antibiotic is prescribed and will remain in your system longer at two to three weeks time.
Are you drinking a lot of water and perhaps some cranberry juice? Both prove to be beneficial with bladder infections.
