Hi, can you tell me about how long it took for your night sweats to go away? It’s been 9 weeks for me now and I was hoping there would be a sign of them lessening, but they are still going strong. Thanks

I did not suffer from night sweats, but some of my symptoms took months to fully go away, and sometimes they re-emerge and then go again. I never had any of them before Flonase.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I have a ways to go, but I was sure some things were improving until this week. The heart palpitations have been more intense the last few days. If you, or anyone else had this get worse before better, please let me know! It’s very difficult to remain hopeful.

I too had a horrible reaction to flonase. It was the scariest experience I have ever had. These forums were a life saver. I experienced a racing pulse, panic attacks, and the most awful anxiety and dread, as well as difficulty swallowing and the feeling of a lump in my throat. Also vivid dreams and sleep disturbances while I was still on it. I had never had anything like this happen to me before. I took it once a day for two weeks in early november. After two weeks of this nightmare, I realized that there was a physical element; I was shaky, hot and cold, and my heart was racing. So I googled flonase and anxiety and finding these forums was the first relief I had. I thought I was losing my mind. It was the most terrifying experience I could omagine and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. After I stopped, my sleep got better. And the panic attacks became less, but the anxiety came and went, like a good week, and then a bad week. I followed the advice of a man on a forum, (I think it was this forum), and ordered what his naturopath put him on online, which he said had helped him. I went to my regular doctor and my ENT because they had both prescribed the flonase. It was like talking to a wall. The denial was almost more than I could bear. They made me feel worse, and they did this to me. Now, about a month off of it, I have good days and bad days.. But the feeling of a lump in my throat and the anxiety, and the racing pulse still were coming and going, and freaking me out, and truly making me despair again. I had an attack of anxiety and racing pulse last Sunday, so I got online and found a Chinese doctor. I've seen her twice this week. She is an angel. I told her I had a reaction to flonase, horrible anxiety. She knew exactly what I was talking about and how to treat it. Acupuncture and herbs. She gave me two herbs, one for the anxiety and one for the stickiness in my throat. (In contrast, the ENT's response to my throat complaints was that I probably had acid reflux and he wanted to put me on ANOTHER drug!). A week later and my throat is much better and the anxiety has not come back. I write this lengthy response to encourage you that you can get better. It is so scary and hard to believe that I know; believe me, I have felt that way this entire time. My Chinese doctor told me about a woman she treated who was on a similar drug, commonly prescribed and thought to be harmless, and she was out walking the streets at night, losing her mind. She helped her too. Scary stuff! And these Western doctors are no help at all! I urge you to google chinese doctors/acupuncturists (preferably chinese) in your area. If you're in CT I can recommend mine. She is an angel . I have hope again, and feel like I am on my way to a real recovery. Hang in there!!!! Best of luck to you. You can get better...seek help from someone who will listen. It will make all the difference for you.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I believe in acupuncture and that's great that the herbs are working for you! I'm in CA. I may go that route eventually but at the moment I'm really just hoping to have some sign of progress again and then I think I can wait it out. It's so hard to get better for a moment and then regress! I didn't realize how much back and forth this was going to be. I don't think my doctor would be any help, unless I want anti-anxiety meds. I took Flonase beginning of October for 7 days, then 3 days after stopping I began to get all these horrible side effects: heart palpitations, heart racing, night sweats, vivid dreams, sometimes dizziness, lots the same as you. I did read this forum a while back and it's helped me to get a sense of the timeline for recovery. I'd be freaking out right now if I didn't see that others took this long and longer to get better. But just last night I had intense vivid nightmares along with night sweats and today, extreme racing pulse and feeling hot and cold. It's interesting you mention the swallowing issue because I realize now I have sort of had that and didn't relate it. A month ago the palpitations became much less noticeable and the night sweats went away for a few nights so I thought they were on their way out. So discouraging. Here's to continued healing!

Yeah, same here. After I stopped the flonase I had a few good days, and then symptoms came back. And then a good week, and then a really bad week, (and when it returns it's awful of course.) Then a few good days and then a fairly acute anxiety attack which led me to seek out the Chinese doctor. And all the while, even when I felt pretty good, I still felt the fear of it coming back, which I eventually realized was a more mild form of the anxiety. Working through it, same as you. I would go back to the forums, looking for people talking about how long it lasted. (I'm 40 years old but I have NEVER felt anything like this). Since I saw the chinese doctor, I feel hopeful again, and that I've really turned a corner. So I had to share that. She said it has something to do with the receptors becoming disabled.. affects you neurologically. Which is exactly what it feels like. Her confidence in treating me inspired hope in me again! I'm sure there are plenty of good Chinese docs in CA if you decide to go that route. Good luck and best wishes!

I had extremely fast heart palpitations that lasted most of a month. It was going as fast as if I was running full out, and this was 24-7, and I was very worried that my heart would be damaged. Maybe it was. The anxiety was much slower to go. There could be other factors that make it worse for you some days than others, is there a pattern? As others have also reported it coming and going for a while, perhaps it is normal. Hang in there, it is so frightening I know, but you will get better.

I have taken Flonase for about 7 days now, and I have definitely noticed an increase in my pulse rate, as I usually am very low; in the low to mid 40BPM, but since taking this med my pulse is in the 70s, which is kind of exciting for me, but... I am feeling agitated/anxious, am experiencing physical pressure that builds up in my shoulders and causes muscle stress pain, and I can feel my pulse in my neck. The thing is I am not dealing with any type of financial, physical, or job stress, but this is beginning to happen daily? Thinking this med may be a double edged sword for me.

How long does this take to go away? used (Nasonex) for about three weeks, stopped a week ago, still having massive anxiety/stress/panic attacks. Why hasn't this stuff been pulled from shelves? Someone should class action this poison no one should have to feel this way just because they were trying relieve sinus symptoms.

I agree with the class action. There should be quite a few older posts here regarding the length of time it takes for symptoms to disappear. It really varies and, unfortunately, can take a while. I finally got relief for my sinuses by changing my diet. All those years of suffering, who knew? Hang in there, it does get better.

Thanks, it's nice to have some support. The real kicker is that this is the SECOND time I've gone through this. But the last time my doctor convinced me the stress/anxiety was unrelated and i foolishly believed them. I feel completely stupid for not trusting my instincts back then.

Is there anything you can do for temporary relief? i'm trying to drown myself in chamomile, exercise, take showers, anything to calm me down but nothing is working.

It feels like my heart is going to explode. :(

I feel for you, it is awful to go through. The doc also told me that it was not caused by Flonase, but I had never had anything like it before, and Flonase had just been started by me 3 days before. A pharmacist, however, did immediately see the connection. A Cliff came on here and posted what a naturopath prescribed for him, and it it worked for him. I've tried searching SteadyHealth and can't find this previous post by Cliff, but I printed it out so here it is:

"magnesium (glycinate) 225-250 mg per day. (Healthy heart rhythm, no more palpitations) Professional health products "BH4 Assist" methylation series. 1 pill twice per day. Anxiety gone! made from royal bee jelly
Ortho molecular products natural D-Hist 3 pills twice per day (to fix the original problem of nasal stuffiness and fluid behind ears)
Cedar fever drops (also to fix the original problem of nasal stuffiness and fluid behind ears) VSL#3 probiotic. (Fixing the gut after 2 days of antibiotics)"

Does anyone know how to find old posts on here? ( I am in a hurry, but can write more later if you need a pal to talk to.) My old posts tell of my struggle with anxiety from Flonase and what I did to fix my sinuses permanently, also on the advice and testing from a naturopath. Now I have not tried what Cliff recommended, at the time I was suffering they gave me tranquilizers, they did not help at all, just as scared and heart pounding. But, I did find that codeine stopped it. However, that requires a prescription, I had some old T3s that were prescribed for something else a while back and tried one of those. That was the only thing that stopped it at all.

I send you lots of good vibes and wishes for a quick and full recovery. Write if you want to, and I will answer when I can. Is my other friend still out there? I think of you often and wonder how you are doing.

Thanks for the good vibes. It's nice to talk with people who have been through the same thing and who understand how scary it is. If this thread didn't existent i'm sure i would think that i was going crazy.

I think the information you referenced is on page 11. I got some of the magnesium, but unfortunately the BH4 doesn't seem to be available in my country.

I've taken time off work and am currently obliterating my consciousness with endless Netflix. Feeling a little better today so hopefully i won't need to get the codeine. But i'll keep it in mind if things get bad again.

I'll update again when things are feeling normal, i'm hoping it's only going to be another week before i can start feeling human again.
.
Thank you for keeping an eye on the thread even after your symptoms subsided and sharing your experience It's a big help.

I can only imagine what this stuff would do to someone who was already suffering from anxiety and depression. I shudder to think actually. While this has been an awful experience I am lucky that i was in a stable and healthy place, and that i found an explanation and some support.
