It's been almost two weeks and i'm finally feeling next to normal. Just a tiny bit of tension left now and a lot of fatigue from the experience and the sleeplessness, i expect to be back to 100% within a week. For me it got much worse before it got better, a week after i stopped taking the medication I had 3-4 nights of consecutive panic attacks and insomnia, before the feeling morphed into heart pain and finally started to diminish.
I recommend finding a few shows on Netflix and diving into them. Sleeping pills were also essential to getting any rest. I also took the magnesium supplement, though i'm not sure it made difference.
For anyone else going thought this : it does get better, give it time and let your body process the poison. Good-luck friends.

All Corticosteroids and Steroids are known to cause anxiety. If you read the extended list of side effects for any meds in that class, you'll find anxiety as a side effect. If you are relying on literature provided by the manufacturers, you will not be fully informed. Take a look at this article, for example. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3853679/

I too feel strong fast heart beat. I barely spray an expire Flonase and seriously feel anxious and even thought I stop cause it might be due to it. I wonder how long it would last or if is just me not the meds. I have to say my allergies did stop.

Please someone let me know when the insomnia stops? It's been 4 days and I've slept for a total of 5-6 hours. I'm so worried and I've been having terrible palpitations and anxiety. after I stopped taking it I had the worst withdrawal symptoms imaginable I was like a drug addict shaking and twitching and my whole body was convulsing. Everyone keeps telling me to think "happy thoughts" and "just to let it go" and I'll sleep. As if that's an option.

I am so sorry that you are suffering like this, I have been there. I found codeine very calming and can help get you over the worst bit, sometimes you can get it without a prescription if you ask the pharmacist for acetaminophen with codeine. Two of those helped a lot. That is if you do not have allergies to those things, and be careful with acetaminophen, do not exceed the dose on the bottle. I was given tranquilizers, but they did not help much. It takes time, I am sorry, but it seems that it just must be endured, and the length of time will vary by person. Another good tactic was distraction, when a good friend came by, I felt less anxious while she was there. That and watching DVDs of Fawlty Towers, or whatever comedy appeals to you. I wish you all the best as you ride this out, you are not alone.

thank you for your kind words. I'd rather not put more chemicals in my body though. I managed 4 hours of sleep yesterday and today (day 4 since last dosage) is the first good day but tonight I'm having the same symptoms as the night before. I'm shaking, I get cramps in my feet and hands, my heart beats out of rhythm and I'm so tired which feeds on my anxiety as I keep on thinking I've permanently damaged my body. I have my family which do their best to comfort me but I can't keep them awake all night to comfort me again, I've already tortured them enough this last week. I'll update this thread with info as I get better in the hope it will bring some small comfort to those suffering.
thanks,
Chrissea

I'm not sure whether it's because some of the effects have worn off (day 7 since last dose) but I think I've cracked a sort of antidote!! I found that the only thing that would put me to sleep and stop the constant leg twitching was warm milk. So I researched into what makes warm milk a sedative and the calcium in it helps our brain produce the right type of hormones to counteract the wrong ones (ie cortisol and therefore, corticoids in our system). As I am over the worst part, I can't tell you for sure whether this works or not but if you are going through this right now take courage and try drinking loads of milk. I am on day 7 and I was a little depressed today, I had the onset of minor panic attacks, and I was so tired but I am much more optimistic that I will get better than what I was the previous days.
Next week, I will also be contacting various media channels and charities if they would like to bring awareness to this horrible horrible side effect. I live in the UK and so will be contacting the British media outlets and MIND the mental health charity, feel free to reply to my post if you are in the UK and would like to be involved or just need some support or would like to join forces in your country to bring awareness. After what I've been through, I am here for anyone reading this and suffering.

Chrissea, I hope you are able to bring attention to this terribly side effect. I am in Canada, but I hope you will keep us posted on this forum.

Absolutely, Flonase causes anxiety!!!! The company should be sued for not listing it as a side effect considering corticosteroids can cause anxiety. I had never had an anxiety attack in my life and within a few days of using Flonase I had horrible anxiety. I didn’t make the connection for quite some time and thought I was losing my mind. It got to the point where I couldn’t even leave the house. Almost a year into using the Flonase I ran out and decided to stop taking it. Within a week I was almost back to my normal self. That’s when I realized the correlation. I went to urgent Care a few months later with a sinus infection. The doctor wanted to prescribe me Flonase and I told him my problem and he said it wasn’t the Flonase, so I decided to try it one more time. Within four days I had a horrible anxiety attack again. I once again stopped using the Flonase and was fine within a few days. .So anyone saying Flonase does not cause anxiety for some people is absolutely wrong. We just happen to be the unlucky ones it happens to.

I too have been having terrible side effects from flonase . Was on it for almost 3 months before I realized it was the flonase. I have never suffered from anxiety so I thought I was loosing my mind. I had tingling all over my body, extreme anxiety, racy pulse, high blood pressure, head rushes that would wake me up. I have been off it for about 17 days and a lot of the symptoms have subsided except for the anxiety. I think I am making it worse because I am so worried about feeling this way. It is the worst thing I have ever felt. I take xanax when I really can't cope. Can anyone tell me how long this can last ! I feel like I have definitely done damage to my body from this awful drug!

Hi, just wanted to reach out to you and to tell you that you are not alone. I don’t know how long the anxiety will last as I’m currently going through this myself (I’m on day 14) but everyday I notice some small improvement. I wish us all the best as we get through this and maybe someone else who’s already been through can shed some insight. Sending my virtual hugs and love.

I have made numerous posts here over the last 2 years with comments and suggestions so I won't repeat all that, I just want to say that it will get better, and the time needed varies for each person. Some get relief right away from stopping the Flonase, but I took weeks, and still had vestiges of anxiety months later, but it is all gone now. You will get better. I too wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for your positive thoughts! Today I called the FDA to report my side effects. If enough people do this we may be able to make some kind of change. I also spoke to my cardiologist about what has been happening to me. Hopefully getting the word out will help someone!

Have been suffering from watery, itchy eyes due to allergies so I decided to try Flonase Sensimist for the first time. For the first week, the instructions state to use two sprays. Today is my second day, took the recommended two-spray dosage at 9:00 am and started having a reaction two hours later. My face from scalp to neck is extremely flushed, lobster-red and hot, (right side more than left). Vision has become blurry, less able to focus. I also feel like I drank 10 cups of coffee (I had one cup at 8:00 am), feeling very hyper. It's now after 2:00 in the afternoon and I'm still experiencing the side-effects, can't wait till this wears off! The good thing is my eyes don't itch, however having my face feel like it's on fire with blurry vision is worse. So unfortunately, Flonase Sensimist is not for me. Extremely disappointed, had high hopes for relief of watery, itchy eyes. :-(

I was wondering why I went to bed tired, but having just taken Flonase, I couldn’t wind down. After four hours, I was wide awake again. I quit it last night, and I slept all night.
