After spending hundreds of dollars at the chiropractors to adddress jaw/head/neck pain from constantly tensing my jaw, I finally realized that the problem (along with tightness of breathing and nausea) started once I was using the full dose of Flonase. It took me over a month to make the connection, and this thread helped verify my suspicions about them being related, so thank you to everyone who has posted! I wish they would list this as a potential side effect to save some of us from fearing we’re developing tmj, instebse physical anxiety, gastrointestinal problems, etc. I’m switching to nasalcrom, which costs the lining of the nose to limit allergens getting in but doesn’t enter the bloodstream like Flonase does.

Wow, wish I had found this B4 I started flonase! What a nightmare!
I had a Sinus infection and was using Afrin but Dr said to switch to flonase to ween off the Afrin with an antibiotic , well it worked great ..until. Well pollen season was starting so I figured I keep using flonase. Bad idea. I kept using flonase for 3 months (as it states you can use for 6 months and then check with a dr). I woke up in the middle of the night 2 weeks ago my heart racing, cold sweat, impending doom, felt I was gonna die! ( I had a panic attack back in the 90s and recognized it immedately ) took me 20 - 30 minutes to calm it all down
And couldn't get back to sleep. My other symptoms have been fatigue, heart palpitations, intense anxiety, digestion issue, burping. A few days later my wife said, stop the flonase and sent me here. I stopped 2 weeks ago and the heart palpitations decreased a bunch but they come and go random 2 maybe 3 times a day but are way way less in intensity and last night I had no episode of 2 am heart racing and the "feeling" of being normal has returned. Anxiety is way down and I'm just trying to ride this thing out.
Seriously there needs to be a class action against the makers because I would never have taken this if I had known this was gonna happen!
Thanks to all that suffer and share their stories I have found comfort and hope.

Update: Anxiety level way down. I have an occasional "flare" up but I can tamp it down with a breathing meditation moment. Highly recommend an app called Relax Melodies I keep on my phone. You can make your own mix of sounds to meditate to and it has a guided section of meditation for anxiety. The more you practice the better it works! I also eliminated all caffeine from my diet (remember chocolate has tons of caffeine and even decaf products do) go water only for 6 to 8 weeks and that will help with the heart palpitation too.
Heart palpitations also way way down "almost" gone. Four nights in a row of good sleep. Crazy intense dreams stopped and they were crazy. I'll keep updating my progress for others in case I note something that one may not have tried yet. Although this board has been a God send for me.
Pea e be with you all.

I got extreme anxiety from Flonase. It should b listed as a side effect. I am not an anxious type person and this should b listed as a bad side effect. It is very uncomfortable dealing with it and once I stopped the Flonase it is slowly getting better but I never would have used it for 2 mths if I New this could happen

Started Flonase a month ago. My Dr suspected allergies and prescribed this medication. It was working and 4 days ago I started having palpitations and tight feeling in my chest. I went to the ER today and everything was normal, I thought I was having a heart attack. I asked the ER Dr about Flonase and he dismissed it as a cause. I haven't taken it for 24 hours and my heart is still pounding and I can't sleep tonight. Prayers requested. NEVER AGAIN!

I've had these same symptoms! Took me 2 years to figure it out that it was Flonase behind it all. Brain fog, anxiety and IBS eventually. This all went away within a week of stopping Flonase.

i take it in the morning and notice that i feel jittery, as if my heart is beating super fast. being a worry wart i check and my heart is beating normally. i do know flonase is a type of steroid and steroids do tend to make you feel this way. i just have to tell myself it’s okay and it’s just the flonase.

Hi. I know this is an old post, but do you still believe FLonase caused you to have panic attacks and are you recovered? When you stopped taking it, how long before you felt better? Thanks.

Hi. Have you recovered from the anxiety caused by Flonase? How soon did you feel anxiety once you started on the Flonase. I have anxiety disorder which was somewhat under control. I started experiencing post nasal drip symptoms and I was prescribed Flonase. I had bad anxiety attack the day I started it and a couple of days later, I had another attack and my anxiety has been really bad since then. I stopped taking it the other day.

hi everyone, i took a generic brand( walgreen) of flonase, Fluticastone propionate. The next day after i took it i experienced my first panic attack, anxiety, disconnection. it went away after 2 weeks and i thought i got better. Then it came back Two months later, and i developed an severe anxiety, panic attacks, derealization, hypersenstivity, eye sensitivity, agoraphobia, insomnia to the point that i have to leave work. I have this for a month in a half already and it doesnt seem to get better. I think the spray either alter something from my mind or inflamed my adrenal gland creating an imbalance in hormone. im alway feeling the adrenaline everyday.

Definitely causes anxiety. For me it is just as I am laying down to sleep. Makes me feel like I need to just out of my skin. Makes me extremely claustrophobic.
