Hello, guys. My kid has been diagnosed with exotropia. I know that surgery is an option, but I also hear it can bring some risks, so I would like to know if there is any way to fix this condition without it. Can anyone tell me this? If there is another possibility, I will really want to know it.

Hi, there. Exotropia is a form of strabismus. Here, eyes are put outward. I am not sure which range your kid’s exotropia is. However, surgery isn’t the only option. You can try first with vision therapy. It consists of many specialized eye exercises. However, this can be really boring for the child, so you must be persistent in going to these exercises. I think that this vision therapy is not covered by healthcare insurance companies. Talk to your kid’s ophthalmologist for details. Bye!
