Toxemia is main topic in my life these days. I had some problems with urinary infections last month, which I thought was treated with antibiotics. I have been feeling abdominal pain and I have also been visiting bathroom more often before the therapy. Anyway, it seems that during the urinary infection I also got bacteremia or toxemia as doctors called it. How serious this condition is?

Usually, we diagnose bacteremia or toxemia by blood culture. Blood sample is cultivated on a medium that helps bacteria growth. If there is any bacteria in blood it will start growing on the medium. Sometimes, immune system's response in light cases such as yours is all that the body needs to fight with toxemia. I assume that the doctors will determine whether you need treatment and medications.
