I heard that some of my friends done BF calculation. They explained it to me that this method (measuring tape), a person can do in her/his own home. I would like to lose weight, especially fat. They say that by this measuring I can monitor progress of my effects. Should I check this with some other method?

It is the best to use only one method for BF calculation. This is because your chosen method, in your case measuring tape is accurate if you use the same test method constantly. I suppose that you were told how to use measuring tape to BF calculation. Just a small advice if you have high body fat percentage you will need training with low effort for start.
