Well I have had a stent and the kidney stone in for almost a year now, and I have no insurance to take care of it. When I was supposed to get it taken out, they scheduled it after my eligibility was expired, so I ve been trying to get it removed since. If anyone knows any place that will take it out with a small down payment or anything, please let me know, I ordered these pills called rencare to dissolve the stone, but getting the stent out is the problem, and Im in pain all the time now, its blockage again with the stent in. Maybe the stone has gotten bigger, but I dont know, it feels like it did the first time I had the stone, and I have infection from some drainage I have been having, I just need some help, Thanks in advance for any help you can possibly give me.

I am sorry to hear what has happened to you, I live in Florida and I have had Kidney stones since my first pregnancy in 03 and I just had a stone removed by surgery and I have a stent from my kidney to my bladder and My dr told me that they can always remove a stent no matter how long it is in it just colects deposits from your urin and it would hurt a lil bit more than if you were to have it removed on your scheduled appointment. Most dr wont take on a high pregnancy patient who have had problems due to law suits they think your problem or the other Dr problem they dont want to get involved I have been there and done that and it get very annoying. So I would get that stent removed as soon as possible or if you havent delivered yet just ask if it could be done during labor if possible because you will already have the pain meds. Good Luck and Congrats

This is a great site! I wish I would've found it 2 weeks ago when I was discharged from the hospital, 27 weeks pregnant, with a stent.

I finally had ENOUGH of the pain and misery and found a second opinion regarding the necessity of the stent. My Uro assigned to me at the hospital was an arrogant son-of-a-gun. He basically told me to "suck it up", even though I was passing a lot of blood and blood clots, couldn't walk, and basically couldn't function because of the pulsing, razor-blade-like pain in my bladder & urethra.

Of all my luck, I found a female Urologist who was also pregnant! EMPATHY! An hour after meeting her, she removed the stent. IMMEDIATE RELIEF! She did remove it in the office without any pains meds & without a local. My stent was lodged at point where uretha & bladder meet, hence the horrific pain I was experiencing daily. It did take her a while to grasp the stent, which was painful (I let a couple of F bombs fly...I'm sure the other patients heard me), but after it was removed, I felt SOOOO MUCH BETTER! The whole process took 2 to 3 minutes.

If you are pregnant, with a stent, and are miserable (i.e., daily pain, immobile, etc.), I highly encourage you to seek a 2nd, or even 3rd opinion to get the stent removed. The worst case scenario for me is that I have to get another stent inserted if my ureter is still blocked, which they would've had to do anyways in another month when the stent would've needed to be changed. At this point, my new Uro said lots and lots of water and always sleep on my left side.

I have a f/u ultrasound next week to check kidney & ureter function & to see if 6mm stone is still in kidney. WISH ME LUCK! Hopefully I won't need any other intervention and I can enjoy the last 11 weeks of my pregnancy! :-P

Does it hurt during bladder stent removal, and do they sedate you or put you to sleep?

My mum had her stent changed today, and she is finding it very painful to pass water. She has 8 stents every 3 months. Are these symptoms normal or should we contact the hospital, even though she does not want me to? She is 70.
