I had a miscarriage the middle of June and I got my period for the first time 3 weeks ago and I'm still bleeding. Is this normal or do I need to see a doctor? I'm not bleeding heavy nor do I have any cramps. Is my body just going through the changes or do I need to see a doctor? By the way I was given a precription for Birth Control Pills do I need to start taking them to regulate my period or will this make it stay even longer?

It is not normal to bleed for three weeks. You need to call your Dr. and make an appointment. Miscarriage causes all sorts of weird hormonal issues (I've only had one period since my miscarriage in April, if that gives you any idea- my dr has prescribed Provera to try to jump start my system, and I may have to take Clomid if I am unable to get pregnant again- all of this after having had a healthy pregnancy 3 years ago.) Birth control pills may re-regulate you, or they may just mask the real problem- you'll have a regular cycle with BCP's, but only because the simulated hormones are making you have one- it will have nothing to do with how your body is actually behaving. Write down all your questions and concerns, and make an appointment to talk with your doctor. Best of luck.

I had a miscarriage, then a regular cycle, then I had a period, a week later I spotted for a week, then saw bleeding. What does this mean?
