Hi, I had a hysterectomy on 3rd of may this year, i had a vaginal hysterectomy, i ended up with an infection, had to have two lots of antibiotics. then i started bleeding continuously 6 days after the op, im still bleeding now! been to my doctor 3 times and back to the hospital once since i had it done. My doctor has taken two swabs from me. The hospital said it was quite normal for bleeding to occur as it 'could' be
blood that has collected together, trying to find an outlet!!!!!!!!!! I dont think the doctor knew where it was coming from. I had a scan when i went back to the hospital, thay said thay couldnt see anything only a few white marks which could have been my stitches. I have a phone consultation booked in with my own G.P this friday! Dont let the doctors fob you off, if you are concerned push for answers. Thats what im doing. I will keep you all informed of my progress, then hopefully it will help others!

due to years of endometriosis, i finally had a hysterectomy in 2003. doc left my cervix. was given estrogen patch--made life better. everything was great until may 2006 when i started spotting. after being reevaluated my new doctor told me, since my cervix was left, a small section of my uterus was also left which most likely had endometriosis tissue--causing bleeding. from may until jan 2007, i had very light periods every 28 days. jan 2007 i bleed very slightly for 16 days. then it stopped. until today july 5. have had pelvic pain on left side where my ovary used to be. it was suggested i could have my cervix removed. not sure what i want to do but its a big drag dealing with these little periods.

I had a partial hysterectomy in December 06 removing one cystic ovary but leaving the other with the cervix. I was told that the one thing I could count on for sure was that I would not have periods anymore. I still get the bleeding for three days but now it is every three weeks instead of a 28 day cycle but the PMS is a little better than it was. Also, since the surgery (and not getting better) I get sharp pains where the ovary was removed on the right side. It happens when I cough, sneeze, do ab exercises. It's excrutiating pain that lasts for about 3 minutes each time. Does anyone know if these sharp pains are muscle pains that might go away with exercise, or do they last indefinately?

Hi, I am 43 years old and I had a total hysterectomy in Jan 2004; nothing was left (no ovaries, no uterus, no cervix). Today I started cramping and spotting as though my period is about to start. I am also extremely tired. I have suffered from anemia off and on so I'm guessing that's what the tiredness is about. Any one have any ideas why I am spotting. I have an appointment with my doctor next week.

I am so glad to see that other people have experienced what I am. I was begining to think I was crazy or something. I am 27 and 3 months post op. A few weeks ago I started bleeding and one weekend I was down for four days with terrible pain and bleeding. I couldn't believe it. I went to my obgyn that performed my surg. and he said that it was probably my stitching still coming loose? I am still bleeding off and on all the time and still cramp like I'm trying to have a period? I thought that was the purpose of a hysterectomy? And I have absolutely no energy??? Am I crazy??? Anyone with any advice please??? ?

I am so thankful for this site. I thought I was crazy when I started to have some really bad pain and then the spotting. I have been spotting for about a month now but what's so strange is that I had my hysterectomy 1 year ago. I was never told this would happen nor have I been given a reason why. It feels as though the pain comes from my ovaries ( i had a partial). I had never heard of this type of thing happening to any woman and now it makes me wonder if the hysterectomy was necessary since that was the reason for me having it anyway.

I have had a hysterectomy in January this year. It has been 13 weeks of the removal of my uterus and part of my cervix. The reason I still have part of my cervix is because it was still dialated and my doctor could not get to it and because of this I have "spotting" that is very very light. I also have cramping right around my incision. I dont know if that is normal but I know that my spotting is. But those of you that is spotting should ask your gyn if you still have some of your cervix. Hope this was helpful and I wish the best to everyone!!!

Hi.. I'm 33 years old.. I have faught Endometriosis covering my cervix, pelvis, bladder, bowels etc..and reoccuring cysts since first getting my period when I was 14. I've had numerous laporoscopies and D & C's to remove the Endo and finally had a Full Hysterectomy ( both ovaries, Cervix, Fallopian tubes and Uterus) in Sept 2007. For the past couple months I've been fighting the constant pelvic pain, lower back and abdominal pain again... periodic bleeding and bowel problems. Turns out my pelvic and vaginal wall are covered in cysts again. Going in for another laporoscopy to laser them out . So.. needless to say having a hysterectomy does not necessarily cure all the problems.

I did not have a hysterrectomy, but had my second surgery for ovarian cysts 5 months ago. The surgery went really well but now I develop a bacterial infection EVERY month. several days after my period. It literally feels like I've got the flu, body aches, fever and chills, loss of appetite, stomach issues, and pain in lower abdomen. I've gone to several doctors and all they say is we have no idea what is causing this and prescribe yet another antibiotic. HELP!

I started bleeding off and on 2 years after my hysterectomy, I was told by my doctor that vaginal bleeding is not possible. But I know it is because I am reading it here in these posts and on posts on different websites. I am fed up with doctors and their concern for womens health issues! If I were a man, and I was bleeding from the penis, Iwould have been given a slew of tests to find the cause. Instead all I get is "That is not possible, are you sure the blood is from your vagina?" Well, after 43 years I am pretty certain that I am able to locate my vagina! When I told him that I inserted a tampon and there was blood on it. He dismissed the whole thing, simply stating that it wasnt possible! Give me a break! All I want is a doctor that ACTS like he cares enough to find out what the issue is. And this is the second doctor that I have seen for the same thing. God Bless you all, and I hope you find better health care. If this isnt normal...then they should be finding out why it is happening or refer you to someone who can find out.

I had my hysterectomy on February 23, 2009, and I started looking things up on the internet because I had vaginal bleeding like a light period

until I went back for post op on April 14. The doc said that I had some scar tissue bu she gave it another name, and she cauterized it. I continued to bleed until April 27. I was finally free for three weeks. It was the happiest time of my life because before the surgery I had a period all the time it never stoppped. Well on May 15 it returned. The weird thing is when I had a normal period in was always every 21 days. Well this is 21 days it has returned and I have all the monthly symptoms. I was promised by my doc that the hysterectomy was a guarantee to stop your period, but I have not seen those results. Now I am 12,000 dollars in debt for a surgery that has not helped.
