i dont know anything about the surgery or the infection but i can say that if you keep taking the antibiotics that your body will get immuned to it and then after so long it will stop working and on top of it all you can develop a yeast infection..

Guest wrote:A total hysterectomy does mean that the ovaries have been removed.  If ovaries or ovary is left intact it is then considered a partial hysterectomy.

Hi

Although you had a total hysterectomy, your ovaries may well have been left (as mine have been). So your symptons could make sense if you now have a problem with your ovaries.

Total hysterectomy doesn't mean your ovaries have been taken.

Best wishes

I'm glad to have found this site...I am 8 years post hysterectomy - still have my ovaries, but everything else was removed. Over the past few months, I have had lower abdominal cramping for just one day, then some light brown staining, not bloody. Went to my doctor today and she did a swab and ordered a pelvic/vaginal ultrasound. Anyone else who has some insight or experience in this and could comment would be appreciated.

I too am having this problem except I'm only 8 months post op and it seems like I'm getting a mini period every 28 days just like my period used to be. They took both my uterus and cervix. I still have my ovaries. Last time I went to the dr was for severe bleeding and he said I had granulation (scar) tissue. He cut it out and cauterized it. It was so painful I almost passed out and threw up. I swore I won't go back but if I can't find a reason for what's going on, my hubby will make me go back. He's worried.

Do you have any answers??? You are the first post that is exactly like me!!! Help! I had a total H about 5 years ago. I have felt great until a week ago. Had major vaginal bleeding after intercourse. I have NEVER had any problems ever with this. We are a normal couple...no crazy stuff. Have to make that clear:). Anyway, major red red bleeding. Stopped after about a day. I am still noticing some brownish blood but i am guessing it is remaining blood?? Going to doctor on Tuesday. Just tired of reading all these posts online and not seeing any answers. Kind of stressed out bc there is NO REASON i should be bleeding. There is NOTHING left to make me bleed. HELP!!!! I guess I am just wanting to feel better but I know there are no answers until I see the doctor. Hate being a woman sometimes...:)

i had mine 3 years ago and still spot for 5-6 days every 24 days with cramps and bad pmt moods. i was told i would never bleed again. i thought it was the lining of the womb that made you bleed not the cervix

I am in the same boat. I'm 31 and I started spotting today, I had my ovaries removed last May so now I have a total hyst, I started having pain on my ride side this past weekend. I have been diagnosed with IC as well so I don't know if that had anything to do with this. I hope this helps or at least makes you feel better about now being the only one.

I just had a total hysterectomy 5 days ago. They took my uterus, cervix and Fallopian tubes. Left my ovaries. A complete hys. Is when they take it all. This is the terminology on my paperwork from my doctor. I think there is a lot of confusion out there between the terms total and complete.

No a total hysterectomy is womb and cervix, a partial is cervix left. Ovary removal has its own name.

Oh my! Thank you so much for sharing this as I went to my doctor this week with very similar story to you and she was dumbfounded! Helpful but so amazed I began to doubt myself. She has referred me to the Gynae dept I have an appointment in a week. But you have put my mind at rest while I wait for my appointment. Thank you

I am 43 years old, I went for my hysterectomy last year in July. I was suffering from endometrosis from the age of 20 years old. I still have my ovaries and cervic intact.
I have been bleeding via my anus and vagina for the last three months. Should I been concern with the bleeding?

I'm 34 and have had a complete hysterectomy where they took my ovaries and cervix , and abdominal endometriosis so they took a large growth from my stomach as well, it's been 4 months since my surgery and I'm having bleeding , pain , headaches , loss of energy , and a complete lack of sex drive , I have pain when I do have sex I really thought all this was over after surgery, Any thoughts
