We all know that stomach flues usually go away without any medical treatments after day or two, and they seldom come back so I think what is now happening to you might be the consequence of the stomach flu you had.
Constipation have many symptoms which may be the sensation of needing to have a bowl movement and then, when in the bathroom you realize there is nothing to pass, or in turn, when you have already experienced a bowel movement you have a feeling there is more to come.
The hard and dry stools of constipation occur when the colon absorbs too much water and this happens because the colon’s muscle is slowly contracting causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly.
The common causes of constipation are: not enough liquids, the lack of exercises, medications, not enough fibre in diet etc.

And this is the same question that I am asking. Heather_2's answer is just a combination of the info generally available on the internet. Maya's and My question is different. We know we had a tummy bug, we just wondering is tghis normal and how to stop it, get rid of it. The constipation is not just a feeling of wanting to go, it is CONSTIPATION ie cannot go, at all. I've even had Psillium seed husk, baked beans, cabbage, prunes, and yes, a good amount of water. I excercise, I'm fit, I don't smoke, or have much alcohol. Just how to stop this constipation and terrible flatulence! Please reply someone that knows an answer to this PARTICULAR problem. Thanks all you helpful people!

Hey girl, my name is Ulrich. I know what you must be going through. My cousin has went through the same thing couple of years ago. But, it wasn't too complicated for her, and it ultimately passed on its own. I don't know why is bloated stomach caused in the first place, but what I can tell you is to go and see your doctor or a specialist because this problem in your abdomen might not be naive at all. Do blood tests and stool examination as well as full body examination just in case you have all the tests.

My 20 month old had it first. I told the pediatrician but he just gave me regular advice for constipation. Then 2 weeks later I developed the same problem. It is horrible and now I feel so bad for my baby. Finally his stool is back to normal, but I don't think I can handle it for 2+weeks.
I thinks its a virus. We eat fruit at least 3 times a day, drink juice, move constantly. The only change in lifestyle is we started drinking tap water instead of bottled water after hearing all the c**p about plastics!

Many of these cases might have been norovirus. One of the ways that the virus is so successful is that before you feel ill, it shuts down your digestion so that you keep everything inside your body. Then when the virus has used your cells to reproduce, it draws water into your intestines and also makes you nauseous. The result is that every gram that you then expel from either end contains billions of viruses. A few airborne droplets can settle and contaminate a surface for someone else to touch. This virus is amazingly good at spreading!
I am recovering from norovirus and have the problems described. I haven't puked for 40 hours now, but any food that I eat seems to stay parked in my stomach. Bleh. My guess is that the virus is so good at stopping digestion that it takes a while for traffic to pick up again.
I am going to try taking probiotics to restore my gut flora. Other than that, I'm going to nibble bland foods but mostly go with electrolyte drinks, water, and diluted fruit juice until my body remembers how to get things moving again. The main thing: stay hydrated!

I had exact same thing about a year ago and had a bunch of tests done but to no avail. Doc said the flu bug can sometimes make a portion of the intestines like fall asleep or quit working after a bad flu. Essentially, the food u eat keeps backing up since the intestine isn't doing its job and contracting the food through. The pressure keeps building up the more food you consume each day. I had to drink an over the counter purple medicine that was suppose to make you poop, plus, do an enema or two to get things going from the end. It worked...and my intestines have worked fine ever since.
