I had this problem when I woke up this morning. There was no sex prior to it for a few days and no self pleasuring either. I noticed a lot of blood and went to the bathroom. found a large leech like clot in my underwear and a lot of very black blood. There had been no pain or discomfort at all to go along with this. Guess it's time to go to the docs. Will update you all when i find something out

Odd coincidence there..i have a testicular cyst as well, it was diagnosed 15 years ago. My bleeding stopped shortly after it swelled and got really painful (gf sat on me during sex)..anyway after it went down (a week or so) lo no more bleeding?

Had this problem for over 15 years, been and had cameras up my bladder etc no issues. I know how it happened, got drunk way back then and had a 3 some and this girl dared me to put her dildo up my back passage. No lube. Goddam hurt. Next morning blood in sperm and a clot the size of Alaska in me, drank gallons of water hopped in the shower and pushed like I was having a baby out my penis until the clot burst out. NB people, gallons of cranberry juice, the shower for 10 mins to warm things up and then push like hell. Plus you don't make a mess that way. Got diagnosed as Hemabloodyspermia which as we all know is no real answer. Things that trigger it for me, drinking alcohol or other stimulants before sex or prolonged sex in this state. Takes a while to settle down afterwards but seems to be fairly benign and I take heaps of Vitamin E to help heal up. The annoying thing is it would always happen more with a condom on and a first time sex encounter with a new partner as inevitably you get a bit drunk to cut the nerves. Not sure if the air pressure backwards from the condom made it worse. But after that in normal relationship sex it never really happened as I guess its gentler (think this is important as well). It's goddam annoying but I have learned to live with it. Worth going to the doctor though to see if you have a swollen prostate though. Solidarity.My story:I'm 24 years old and was fooling around with a girl after a night of drinking and did NOT have sex with her yet. I had been aroused for a while admist the foreplay, and went to pee. Sure enough, a violent stream of bright red blood accompanied with a clot fired out of my penis. A cat scan, blood tests, urine tests later, the urologist says that I have burst a blood vessle. I though it had subsided after a few days, so I was with the girl again, and once again, had not ejaculated yet (we tend to take our time), and went to pee and this time, could not pee. Blood just dripped out. Ten minutes later a two inch (5.8 cm) blood clot cannonballed out of my penis. I went back to the doctor just to ask him a few questions. "How long will this occur?" "Should I not masterbate or have sex for a while?" ... I ended up getting a cytoscopy today, which was traumatizing. The doctor said there is no bladder cancer or anything, and he's sure it's just a broken vessle. He said it would go away on it's own and to resume sexual activity as normal. He also said it could take a "few months" which is vague and unsettling. Does anybody have answers to these questions? How long might this occur for? Does it help to remain sexually active or not?Why do systoscopies hurt so badly?Hang in there fellas.

Hey Mike, sorry you've joined the club. Yeah we should encourage each other to talk about not just the medical aspects of it but how upsetting/traumatizing various aspects of it can be. I'm not sure how long ago I last updated here, couple of months I think. At that time I was bleeding again but it was stopping, I thought, and did stop. So, I hadn't had it happen in a year (almost exactly), then it happened again and last for about 2 and a half months, and then stopped, but this time for only 1.5 months and now it's happening again. Obviously I had really really hoped that I'd get another good part of a year before this sh*t 'flared up' again. Every time I have another 'attack' of it I worry that this time it won't go away at all, or it will but for an even shorter period of time... So. I've had the cystoscopy - thankfully all clear for me and thankfully for me it didn't actually hurt me at all, just felt uncomfortable. I can imagine how well they manage to numb you down there and how competent they are at doing the procedure probably accounts for whether it's painless or painful :( I had a horrible experience having my catheter put in when I was hospitalized for this (blood clot that got into my bladder, cldnt piss it out), where it was done by a couple of nurses who weren't experienced and halfway through putting it in, suddenly water squirted everywhere and they panicked and were like 'did the balloon just burst?!' and all this sh*t (which, since I'd read about the procedure the night before, I knew would be a VERY BAD thing to have happened, if it had) Luckily it wasnt that and they ended up getting it in there, but jesus christ. Then later an orderly went to move my bed but didn't bring the f*****g saline bag-drip-pole-thing along with me and almost yanked it out of me. ANYWAY! Ugh. So, cystoscopy clear. Had kidney ultrasound (and bladder again anyway plus basically everywhere), all good (except enlarged/'fatty' liver), had clotting profile checked due to that, but that was all good. Had my PSA checked again, all good. So I dunno what to do next either. I really aren't gonna cope well if it continues to persist more permanently now; it wouldn't be SO bad, except for the fear that every time it happens, I may clot and wind up back in emergency. Oh and yeah incidentally, that has happened to me too where I've just gotten very aroused/turned on, in fact the last time it happened, that's what happened - I was getting closer to ejaculating but before I ever did, tonnes of blood started coming out like the world's worst pre-cum, and then I freaked and cldnt ejaculate anyway which scared me half to death cos I realised if I dont get the blood OUT, itll clot, and itll be hard or impossible to pass. I went straight to the toilet and pee'd it all out, loaded up on even more water and kept pissing as soon as I could again to make sure. :/ Not fun. I found one article on google that shows a study has linked hemataspermia to high levels of uric acid. High levels of that can be contributed to by drinking (which I do too much of, admittedly), but can also be hereditary - and it can cause gout, which my grandfather suffered badly from. Maybe there's a connection there (and hell, for all I know, my grandfather may have had hemataspermia - it's not like he woulda told me haha. Too late to ask him now :/) So I wanna go get my uric acid levels checked. I also wanna have a transrectal ultrasound, because I read that those discover prostate anomolies in I think it said around 50 or 60% of people with the condition. Even if your prostate isn't enlarged, it can be irregular or get irritated or, I believe, have sensitive/weak/swollen blood vessels which can burst. If they REALLY gave a sh*t, I believe they CAN do a doppler ultrasound as you get aroused and/or ejaculate, to try to trace the flow of blood and find the source. Not that that sounds fun, but having this more and more of the time is not fun either. So, to sum up - most people here haven't been very successful at identifying their cause. It DOES tend to self limit, but it also tends to recur. Given the amount of times I've cum blood and only ended up with a stuck clot once, that does seem to be fairly rare, although as ppl have recommended in this thread, it's not a bad idea to load up on water before u get aroused, in the event that u need to pass clots. There were a cpl other ideas or leads I had but I won't write more yet, Ill try to find the links to those articles I mentioned above and other ones and post them here soon. I was wondering if there are mens health support groups or anything around too, cos this is starting to really affect my quality of life and mood etc. Anyway, I hope your current bout of it clears up soon and it's a long time before it comes back, if it ever does. just re-reading through the thread and see other people have mentioned; the uric acid levels potential connection. So yeah, definitely gonna get that checked. Also, re: the 'guest' who mentioned hardness of erection - yeh I've had at least one girl comment on how hard I get, and I certainly feel like i get REALLY hard/strong erections, and that there must be a lot of freaking pressure in there. Also, even when masturbating I tend to take my time with it, so I'm highly aroused for a fairly long time, so as you mentioned above Mike, maybe that has something to do with it too and we should quit that habit hah

I had this issue after some crazy catogory 5 sex in Japan 8 years ago.  I have blood in my siemen and pee blood clots after good vigerouis sex.  If I rub one or or have a quicky no issues.  I take Pepcid AC for heartburn and have seen this mentioned on other sites.  Anyone on heartburn medicine?

What fricken mess it makes when the clots come out. Not good for us single guys, quick way to scare the hell out of date.

I too had this problem got scoped by a uroligist he didnt find anything but a thickening of the bladder wall which is normal for my age 58, kind of laid off sex for a bit it went away only to come back same deal only after sex but a couple of times I had lower back pain in my kidneys but that went away hate to get scoped again other than after sex it clears up after a couple urinations.

Im a guy from sweden with the same problem, tried not having sex for at least 12 weeks and it all went away for a long period, so I felt comfortable having sex again every weekend until last one when it came'd back again after having sex, was drunk but I can always feel right when it happens. Had a cold to so it can be a reason why it happened now again. Have done every tests but nothing is wrong I even peed a full cup of blood just to show what the f**k I was talking about but nothing wrong according to the doctor:( I'm so sick and tired of this , had it since I was 16 and I'm 33 years old now. So if anyone has any solution please write it here. Thought I was alone with this problem until I found this thread.

NOTE TO EVERYONE!

Something that hasnt been suggested yet is to ask your doctor to test you for Sickle Cell trait. I told my recent doctor of my issues and how all the other doctors dont have a clue (the same as everyone here). He had me tested for Sickle cell....sure enough...half my blood is sickle cell so i have sickle cell trait. The blood can't pass normally sometime, inflates the penis and doesnt return due to the odd shaped blood, then it congeals as a clot.

DONT WAIT TO PEE HOURS AFTER SEX...GO RIGHT AWAY as soon as sex is done

Drinking lots of fluids before sex increases the chances of occurance.

Ive dealt with this for 5 years on and off..

Ive learned some lessons the hard way, and some the easy way..

First off.. No doctors are going to have a clue.. They will stick with the " it's impossible" stance

So, what are your symptoms ?

Clots in your blood after sex ? After masterbation ?

Heavy thick clots, that look like leeches ?

Let me give you a bit ofadvice ...

Urinate before sex, to empty your bladder.. But let's say about 30 minutes before sex.. You'll want some in there to help passing..

Cant pass a clot ? Relax ( IMHO ) yes, you want to get them out of there.. But it's been my experience that there not going to get hard in  there.. In fact there going to dissolve slightly  

Heres the plan... 

1 try to pee, if  it works , your done.. Don't grunt and strain to much , relax let the clot get towards the tip

2 didn't work.. Hot bath.. Tootsie roll your penis a bit..if yourbladder is empty, and you can get some urine and blood out, that's good.. You don't want to have a full bladder, there's danger in that too.. Yes this is not what your brain tells you.. You brain says " more urine... PUSH "

3 still doesn't work ? Relax.. Hot soak..Manipulate your penis.. This normally will move the clot, and you can pee more... Anything you can do to keep your bladder from not over filling the better IMHO... I made the mistake of drinking a ton,of water thinking yea... More water the better.. But I still couldn't pass it and had to go e.r.

Advice..cranberry juice or pills  .. Vitamin k.. Antibiotics to heal the wound inside your urinary tract

This is NOT BLOOD IN YOUR SEMEN.. This is blood in your urinary tract , the wound acts up during sex, so your  doctor will think its semen related or prostate...

Im no doctor, I'm just going by me going thru this, and what my gut says.

And in my case it comes and goes.
